TTSSTFA Secondary Schools' Track & Field Association of Trinidad & Tobago In 2006, another event was included in the festival, a cross country run.

On Jan 28, 1998 a committee representing the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sport, the National Amateur Athletic Association Trinidad and Tobago and the Olympic Committee and the main sponsor NEMWIL, launched the NEMWIL Schools Athletic Festival. This comprised
Four events, namely: a 5k Road Race, Juvenile Super Athlete, the Schools Relays and a Track and Field Competition. The activities were held in June of that year following the National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships which was a feeder to the festival. In 2004 the Athletic Festival was reviewed and restructured to cater only for secondary School students. It became the Secondary Schools National Athletic Festival and involves a 5K road race; school relays and culminates with the track and field championships. On Saturday28th October 2006 the event was staged around the Sevilla Golf Course in Couva. It provides another opportunity for the development of distance running, an event in which Trinidad and Tobago lacks quality competitors at all levels. It also serves as an impetus for student athletes to begin preparation for other aspects of the athletic festival,

The festival is now managed by the Trinidad & Tobago Secondary Schools Track and Field Association (T&TSSTFA) along with the Physical Education Unit of the Curriculum Planning & Development Division. The T&TSSTFA is a body elected every 2 years at an Annual General Meeting and operates with a General Council as well as by guidance of the membership consisting of a representative of each private and public secondary school.

DISRESPECTING THE NATION ON DAY ONE
Lateness and Cabinet Composition, An Insult! - Cadiz

Former Minister of Trade, Tourism, and Transport under the People’s Partnership Government Stephen Cadiz (2010-2015) has slammed Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar for disrespecting the nation on day one.

In a scathing critique of the new administration’s first major act. Cadiz called out Kamla for arriving an hour late to the ceremony, saying it was “an insult to the people who were on time” people who had travelled from across the country to attend. “You’ve started on the wrong foot,” he wrote.

Cadiz said he was “devastated” by the composition of the new Cabinet saying “I am devastated that this Cabinet will be running the Rock for the next five years.” Noting that “The election result gave me much hope,” he wrote, “and then, bang, all hope was gone in a flash.”
