We all have traumas that will come into our lives and leave us a different person than we were to begin with, but what matters is the "how" we follow through with and the "if" we fully let it define us. I believe most people have no idea on how to work through and properly heal from the abuse that was suffered weather in long term over years or years of dealing with it, or was the product of something resent they are currently having to fight there way through....

"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense." -Alice in Wonderland Back in the early days, most people didn't know how to address a mental health issue like Schizophrenia. They didn't really want to take the time to understand nor try to come up with ways or medication for this illness to be socially inept. So most people found themselves in an institution for a long term stay....

"Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional." – Haruki Murakami

In the quiet solace of early mornings, before the world stirs awake, I often find myself contemplating the delicate dance of joy and sorrow that paints the canvas of our lives. Like the gentle ebb and flow of the ocean's tide, emotions rise and fall with a rhythm that is both inevitable and natural. It is a cycle that, I believe, can be met with a poised heart and a mindful spirit. Suffering, in its everyday cloak, visits us all. From the hollow ache of loss to the sharp pangs of disappointment, it is as much a part of our human experience as breathing.

I have learned to see these fluctuations of the heart not as intruders but as old friends, reminding me that to feel is to be alive. On days when the sky within me clouds over, I turn to the simple yet profound practice of mindfulness. It's in the rich aroma of my morning coffee, the warmth of the sun's embrace, the harmonious melody of birdsong – these sensory experiences become lifelines back to the present moment, back to a state of grace and gratitude. Mindfulness is not an escape from suffering but a way to sit with it, to understand it, and to move through it with a certain gentleness of spirit.

My journey into yogic theory has been transformative, teaching me that our nervous system is a powerful conductor of the symphony of our perceptions. The ancient yogis believed that the mind and spirit are like sculptors, capable of reshaping the contours of our reality. By harnessing the breath, by finding stillness in movement, I’ve felt the profound shifts within my own nervous system, a softening of the rigid perceptions that once magnified my suffering.

This path has not been without its stumbling blocks. There have been days shrouded in gray, where the world seems to wear a somber hue. Yet, I have learned the art of active engagement with my state of mind. By choosing where to focus my attention, by reframing my thoughts, I've witnessed a personal alchemy – the transmutation of pain into wisdom, of struggle into strength. This is not to say that suffering simply vanishes; rather, it is the transformation of our reaction to suffering that can change our lived experience of reality.

Embracing this philosophy requires a heartening dose of personal responsibility. It means acknowledging that while we cannot control every wave that life sends our way, we can learn to surf. It is a stance of optimism, a belief that each of us possesses the tools to not only endure the storms but to navigate through them with a sense of peace and purpose.

I share these reflections not from a pedestal of enlightenment, but from the messy trenches of my own human experience. Like the time I found solace in the steady rhythm of my breath amidst the chaos of a hard day, or when the simple act of savoring a piece of chocolate became a meditation in joy during a moment of melancholy. These are not just practices but intimate companions on my journey towards equanimity.

So here we are, you and I, in this shared space of vulnerability and understanding. I invite you to consider this perspective, to find solace in the wisdom of our ancestors, and to cultivate a mindful appreciation for the spectrum of your emotional experiences. Embrace the power of now, and remember that each moment, no matter how fleeting, is another stitch in the intricate tapestry of your life. Let us weave with intention, with care, and with an unyielding belief in the transformative power of the human spirit.

My dear friends, let's gather our hearts together for a moment, away from the noise and haste, and speak of something deeply real – our shared dance with life’s inevitable partner, suffering. I stand with you on the common ground of human experience, where we are all intimately familiar with the ebb and flow of life's many trials. Yes, suffering is as certain as the sunrise, but so is the strength within us to greet it with grace. We're not here to turn our backs on the shadows cast by our struggles but to walk through them, with our heads held high, knowing that each step is a testament to our resilience.

You see, embracing the full spectrum of our emotions is like learning a sacred dance. When sadness whispers, let’s listen to its song, not with resignation but with a profound respect for its place in our lives. It’s in these moments that mindfulness becomes our rhythm, our breath the steps that guide us through. I urge you to savor life with all your senses; let the aroma of rain-soaked earth after a storm, the soothing touch of a loved one’s hand, or the comforting taste of your favorite meal be your anchor in the present. It’s in these simple joys that we find the extraordinary strength to press onward.

And as we move forward, let’s not forget that our perceptions hold the brush that paints our world. We have the agency to change the hues of our canvas. It's not about erasing the challenging emotions or experiences – it's about changing our dance with them. You have the power to shift your perception, to choose focus over fret, and peace over turmoil. Together, let's step into each day with intention, courageously sculpting a reality where even amidst suffering, we can find a wellspring of joy and an unshakable peace.
