What an incredible way to kick things off! A massive thank you to everyone who came along to our very first Geelong Spectres – Play with Pride session. It was fantastic to see so many new and familiar faces bringing their energy, enthusiasm, sparkle, and shine to the court.

Whether you were shooting hoops, meeting new people, sharing a laugh, or simply being part of our growing community, you helped make the evening something truly special. The welcoming, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere is exactly what the Spectres are all about, and it was wonderful to see that spirit come alive in Geelong.

We’re excited about what’s ahead and can’t wait to continue building this amazing community together. Thank you for helping make our first session such a success.

🌈🏀 IT HAPPENED — Play with Pride launched in Geelong today and WOW.

The inaugural Geelong Spectres Play with Pride session just wrapped and we are still buzzing from the energy in that stadium. The Geelong community came through in full force, Progress Pride flag laid out on the court, rainbow basketballs flying, Spectres gear on, smiles all round. Pure. Magic. ✨

Play with Pride was created to be a safe, welcoming, and joyful space for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies to get active, have fun, and connect. Today showed us exactly what that looks like in real life — and it is BEAUTIFUL.

This is just the beginning. We want to make Play with Pride a regular event in Geelong that truly reflects what the community needs — and that means we need to hear from YOU.

There will be social basketball activities, music, opportunities to connect with others, and information about future participation opportunities for the Geelong Spectres chapter.

For us, Pride Basketball has always been about creating spaces where LGBTQIA+ people and allies feel safe, visible, connected, and genuinely welcomed.

Get ready, Geelong — Pride Basketball is coming to town! 💜

We’re incredibly excited to officially welcome you to the Geelong Spectres Pride Basketball community — a space built on connection, inclusion, community, and pride.

Whether you’re a seasoned player, shooting hoops for the very first time, or simply looking to meet amazing people in a welcoming environment, Geelong Spectres is for you. Come along, have some fun, get active, and be part of something special.

We’re proud that our very first community event is being delivered as a joint initiative between Spectres Australia - Pride Basketball Association, Melbourne Spectres Basketball Club, and Melbourne United Basketball Club — bringing together organisations passionate about inclusive sport, community connection, and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome.
