DOING WHAT YOU DO NOT LIKE TO DO, BUT MUST DO!
If you plan on starting a business there are two things you must do, that most people won’t do, or
enjoy doing and that is setting goals and planning. Today we are speaking of goals.
What is a Goal?
1. A goal is like a road map outlining the route you must take to arrive at a particular
destination, or achieve a career goal at a certain time. As you know, many of us today use
GPS, but sometimes even GPS can give you inaccurate information, as many have
experienced. So, you must KNOW FOR YOURSELF who you are, where you are going,
when and how you are going to get there.
2. A goal keeps you focused on what you want to achieve. It is a process that requires
perseverance and patience to achieve it. It will be trying at times, you may want to give
up, but I guarantee that when you accomplish that goal, you will be so happy.
3. When writing goals, the temptation is to write a long list, that includes the kitchen sink,
NO they MUST BE SPECIFIC, measurable, and attainable. For example, we are setting a
goal to find out if we have what it takes to be an entrepreneur, by the end of the second
week of the month. Below is just an example. (This is a short list.)
a. Week 1:
i. What is my gift and what am I passionate about?
ii. Do I have what it takes to be an entrepreneur?
iii. Am I Honest?
iv. Am I an individual with high integrity?
v. Am I able to persevere through tough times, or do I tend to procrastinate or
am I fearful?
vi. Am I patient?
vii. Am I self-disciplined?
viii. Am I a visionary?
ix. Do I desire to help people resolve their problems in business?
x. Am I able to accept and utilize constructive criticism or suggestions
in a positive manner. Or do you know everything?
xi. Can you clearly state why you are going into business for yourself?

The above, as I mentioned, is a short list, but critical insights you must know about yourself, before you get to far in researching, planning and developing a business model, only to find out, that entrepreneurship is not for you.
b. Week 2: Now, you recognize you do have what it takes to be an entrepreneur, and you can continue with your entrepreneurial quest. GOAL ACCOMPLISHED.

CONGRATULATIONS you can now begin working on your business model!

NOTE: There will be times you will not know what to do, or which way to go, that is ok, you cannot do everything nor do you know everything, and that is why you will hire great people to help you in the area where you lack a particular strength
