Hi! For those who don’t know me, my name is Alanna and I am the owner of Center Cut Pilates.
I started dancing when I was 4 years old. I am lucky enough to say that I was able to fulfill my childhood dream of being a professional dancer and making that my career.
I have scoliosis, which was being monitored by a surgeon for a number of years when I was growing up. After my growth plates fused, my spine was left with a lovely curve of almost 40 degrees on the bottom and 17 on top. My doctors told my parents I would probably never be able to be a dancer. When I was 20 years old, I was released from their care, and was told to keep my back muscles as strong as possible for the rest of my days to help keep things from shifting further. I’m happy to say I beat the odds and danced professionally for many years.
After years of dance gigs and contracts, I sustained a number of injuries. One of those injuries was bilateral calcaneus stress fractures (that’s right, stress fractures in both of my heels at the same time). My doctor in NYC was amazing and kept me optimistic, but I couldn’t dance for nearly a year and was in a boot on my left foot which was the worst of the two. Feeling helpless and lost, I discovered Pilates.
Pilates kept my body moving and my mind sane, and felt similar to dancing. I fell in love with The Method and decided in 2013 to start a comprehensive certification at
I established my studio in 2014, and now, 10 years and 4 spaces later, here we are at 33 Main Street in Clinton, New Jersey.
Thank you to my clients who show up every week and have helped to build an amazing community of Pilates-loving people, both women and men. Pilates is for EVERY body at every age. You’re never too young, or too old to start caring about your body. 💪
