Setting the bar high for years to come! What a great first ever Thru The Karoo 👏

WOW. What a weekend. 🧡

The very first Thru The Karoo Marathon is officially done and we are still taking it all in.

From the early morning start lines to the final finishers crossing with grit and smiles, the support was simply incredible. Spectators, volunteers, water point crews, medics, sponsors, local businesses, families… you showed up in a way that gave this race its heartbeat.

The feedback so far? Overwhelmingly positive.
And that means everything to us.

There were so many unforgettable moments, runners pushing through the Karoo heat, friends finishing hand-in-hand, first-time marathoners achieving something they once thought impossible. Grit. Joy. Determination. Community.

This weekend wasn’t just about distances.
It was about people.

To every runner who trusted us with your journey, every supporter who cheered until your voice was gone, and every helping hand behind the scenes, thank you. You made history with us.

We are proud. We are grateful. And we are already dreaming about what’s next.

⚠️ Caution to all Graaff-Reinet residents and surrounding areas. Let's ensure our Marathon runners are extra safe this weekend!

🚧 DRIVERS BEWARE – THRU THE KAROO | 21 FEBRUARY 2026 🚧

Please note that runners will be making use of the R63 during the Thru The Karoo Marathon. Everything in our power has been done to ensure a safe race environment.

🕠 Running Time: 5:30AM – 11:30AM

📍 Markers are measured from the Botanics Club in Graaff-Reinet.

🏃‍♂️ Route Highlights:
• 42.2KM Marathon Start
• 21.1KM Half Marathon Start
• 10KM Turnaround
• 16KM Trail Run Road Usage Section
• All distances finish in Graaff-Reinet (Botanics)

We kindly ask all motorists to drive cautiously, reduce speed, and be patient while supporting our runners on race day. Your cooperation helps keep everyone safe 🙌
