Lesson learned: don't judge a hike by its cover!

We often build up to our hikes with lots of research and Google Earth-ing, in an effort to discover the most physically challenging and/or visually rewarding locations. This hike... was not one of those. We happened to explore this unassuming trail because we wanted something "easy" and close by. Turns out, we'd stumbled upon the perfect spot to witness one of most gorgeous sunsets we've ever seen, over a backdrop of layers upon layers of redwood-covered hills. It's the most serendipitous and unexpected moments that can often lead to some awesome discoveries. ⁠⁠
