It is with great sorrow and sympathy for the family, that it is announced that Susan Dawson's funeral took place yesterday. Her final journey took place in a beautiful horse drawn hearse, decorated with yellow feathers and ribbons. Susan was taken from her bungalow in Newton Burgoland, to the place where she was born in Bilstone, before being laid to rest at St Mary the Virgin Church at Congerstone. By all accounts it was a beautiful service supported by a huge congregation.

This morning I have spoken to Gaynor, the new landlady at the Belper Arms. She advised me that the pub will open again at 4.00pm on Wednesday 30th October 2024.
