Fitter Healthier Mum I'm a mum & over the last 5 years, I have put on over 2 stone. I hate looking in the mirror. I feel horrid - unfit, fat & unhealthy. I feel horrid. I’m so stiff.

I have started the "one thing a month challenge" to make me fitter and healthier. Join me & take on the challenge! Chris Evans said on his radio show that he wasn’t going to do New Years resolutions this year because let’s face it, this year has been a tough one - why give up things that give you pleasure at a time like this? Instead, let’s start new things. Start one new thing every month that wi

ll change your life for the better. By the end of the year you’ll be doing 12 more things you weren’t doing last year. Sounded great to me.... just one thing...I should be able to manage that. I was always going to stay in shape as a mum but after my son was born he spent six weeks in the Nicu, I fell victim to anxiety, add to that 4 years of breast feeding, moving house and my mum having a stroke. I have put myself last for nearly 5 years and just haven’t had the energy or motivation to get myself in shape. Somewhere along the way, I have put on over 2 stone. Now my little boy is 4 and I finally feel that it’s time to get me back. I finally feel I have that time. It’s time to shed that weight. When I bend down, it’s like I have a basketball for a belly just getting in the way. I get out of breath doing things I never used to. I used to stretch every day for 20-30mins and I haven’t been able to find the time to do that for nearly 5 years. I used to go to a yoga class once a week, but that fell by the wayside a long time ago. All my suppleness is long gone. I have tried to do stretches, exercise, go for walks etc etc for probably the last 3 years but other things always feel more important. I seem to put those I care about above my needs and I even put off exercise in favour of doing chores...just because, well they need doing. Now is the time to take action. One thing a month for 12 months top be a fitter and healthier mum! NB: I have no experience in exercise or diet and won't be recommending either. This is just a page to let you know what I'm up to as I try to get fitter and healthier.

Losing the baby weight - what has worked for you?

So, it's July and time for a new challenge. Honestly, this month has been rubbish for me...I feel very disheartened. I've cut down on eating the bits I shouldn't and reduced my portion sizes. I've started wearing my fitbit again to consciously up my step count...and still I have lost no weight. I guess I just keep going but I've also been told that stress is a massive factor in weight gain and also inability to lose it. so somehow I need to reduce stress levels or at least get better at dealing with it.

I’m not going to lie, the past 2 weeks have been tough. I’ve lost my yoga space due to a massive water leak in our house making the lounge unusable. It’s also half term so no child free walks this week. So easy to lose momentum...
