“Strong people are generally more useful and harder to kill.”

Blunt, but true.

When we talk about strength, we’re not talking about becoming a bodybuilder or lifting ridiculous weights.

We’re talking about having enough muscle, stability and physical capacity to handle life better.

Falls. Illness. Surgery. Recovery. Independence.

It is rarely just the accident or illness that causes the biggest issue. Often, it is the frailty going into it.

Adding even 10 or 20% more strength could make a huge difference to your day to day life, your confidence, and your long term health.

The most frustrating thing about this new 30 year study?

The information is incredible…but it is not new.

Strength training has been one of the most powerful things you can do for your long term health for years.

The research has shown it.
Coaches have been saying it.
But the mainstream conversation has been full of fat loss fads, quick fixes, and nonsense.

Strength training is not just about looking better.

It is about ageing well, staying strong, reducing risk, and keeping your body capable for as long as possible.

The sooner people understand that, the better.

Our first Strongevity members walk 🚶‍♀️🌳

Yesterday morning we met up at Himley Hall for a relaxed walk, a chat, and a wander around the artisan food and craft fair afterwards.

It was so lovely seeing members getting to know each other outside of the gym and building the kind of community we always hoped Strongevity would become.

Thank you to everyone who came along.

Same again soon? 👀

If you struggle to squat, the answer is not always “don’t squat”.

It is usually finding the right starting point.

For a lot of people, that means taking away the load, reducing the depth, and building strength through a range of motion they can actually control.

That might start with a higher box.
Then slowly, over time, we lower it.
Not in days. Not always in weeks. Sometimes over months.

The goal is to find a version your body can tolerate now, then build from there in a way that feels safe, controlled, and realistic.

If you’d like help with this, we’re currently full, but we do have a waiting list and we’ll be releasing more spaces in a few months’ time.

Drop us a message or use the link in our bio to join the waiting list.

One of the biggest myths with strength training is that more always means better.

But one of the most interesting points from the recent long term study people have been sharing is that most of the benefits seemed to come from around 90 minutes to 2 hours of lifting weights per week.

After that, there was not much extra measurable benefit for long term health.

That is huge.

Because for a lot of people, especially if you are over 50, the thought of needing to train constantly can feel overwhelming.

But the reality is, you do not need to live in the gym.

And actually, adding more and more on top can increase fatigue, put more strain on your recovery, and potentially make aches, joints or injuries harder to manage.

For most people, doing a little bit less, being patient, and staying consistent is going to be a much better approach than trying to do too much too soon.

That is exactly what we focus on at Strongevity.

Not more for the sake of more.

Just what actually moves the needle.

We take exercise form very seriously here…thankfully we’re here to demonstrate

Shall we put this in the next workout?

We get asked a lot if we’ll be doing things like Zumba, spin, yoga or different fitness classes.

And the answer is no.

Not because there is anything wrong with those things, but because at Strongevity, we are here to specialise.

We do small group personal training for people over 50, with a focus on the things we believe matter most:

Building strength
Increasing muscle
Improving balance
Supporting metabolism
Helping people move and feel better for longer

We do not want to be a jack of all trades.

We want to be excellent at the thing we believe people over 50 need most.

That means proper coaching, proper structure, and support from people who understand exactly who we are here to help.

There’s been a little bit of confusion about how the waiting list works, so hopefully this clears it up 👇

Joining the waiting list does not mean you just go to the bottom of a queue and wait for your name to be picked.

When we’re ready for the next intake, we’ll email everyone on the waiting list with a date and time that the booking link will be released.

At that point, it will be first come, first served to book a call.

We currently have over 710 people on the waiting list, and we’ll only be offering around 50 spaces in the next intake.

Last time, we had around 42/43 calls booked within the first 10 minutes, and we’ve already had even more interest for this next intake.

Being on the waiting list is the only way you’ll know when the booking link is going live, and spaces are expected to go very quickly so get yourself on there by clicking on the link in our bio or emailing [email protected]

Members walk this Sunday 🚶‍♀️🌳

We’re heading to Himley Hall this Sunday for a relaxed members only walk, and we’d love to see as many of you there as possible.

It’ll be a lovely chance to get some fresh air, move a little, chat to other members, and enjoy something outside of the gym together.

Partners, friends, kids, and dogs on leads are all welcome too.

Sunday 14th June
10am
Meeting at The Log Cabin Café, near Himley Park golf course/play area

There’s an artisan food and craft fair on, so we’re meeting here instead as the other coffee shop may be busy.

Please wear suitable footwear and weather appropriate clothing, as we’ll be going ahead whatever the weather.

See you there

Should you be aching after training?

Yes…and also no 😏.

Aching does not automatically mean a workout was effective, and not aching does not mean it was a waste of time.

A lot of it comes down to how used your body is to moving.

Some people will feel really tender after their first few sessions. Others might barely feel anything at all. Neither is right or wrong.

At Strongevity, we’re not trying to destroy you in week one. We’re trying to help you build strength, fitness and confidence in a way that is manageable and sustainable.

The real signs of progress are things like:

Feeling stronger
Adding more reps
Moving better
Feeling fitter
Building confidence
Noticing daily tasks feel easier

Aches can happen, especially at the start, but they are not the goal.

Progress is.
