When I’m in a new place the tiniest bug and flower on the ground pull my attention. The bark and beauty of the trees fascinate. The new bird sounds enchant me. The epic views make me feel small and insignificant in the most lovely ways. The newness of a place brings me into the present in a way that I lose easily with the familiar. But every moment, every place, every sound can stoke this fresh and mindful perspective of I can remember that every moment is new, fresh and never to be experienced again. Our senses are the way we can be present in the world. What do you see right now? Hear? Smell? Taste? Feel? What happens when you tune in deeply to this present moment whether it is new and exciting or familiar and mundane?
