Ever scroll through social media feeling great — then suddenly not so much? 📱😬 There’s a reason for that. Thomas Mann observed that our capacity for discontent is directly tied to the intensity of our desires and attachments.

Leon Festinger’s Social Comparison Theory backs this up: the wider the gap between where you are and where you think you should be, the greater the dissatisfaction. 📉

The antidote isn’t to stop scrolling cold turkey — it’s to get curious.

What are you actually desiring when you compare? And is it something truly attainable? 🌿 A little awareness goes a long way.

What if the MAGA hat and the p***y hat are the same thing? 🤔

Last Saturday I moved through two worlds — a No Kings protest, then Palm Sunday Mass. And somewhere between the french fries and the incense, something clicked.

We spend the first half of life building an identity. The second half is about letting it fall away. ✨

B.K.S. Iyengar calls them garments — the ideas about ourselves that we wear. The false self. The ego. Asmita. Whatever tradition you come from, the mystics agree: strip them away, and the soul is the soul.

The system profits when we stay sorted. The spiritual path asks something harder. 🕊️

Beyond the Chair is now Gentle Stretch and Strengthening! 💪

This class is perfect for people who want to add a touch of resistance training to their yoga practice.

Don’t want to add resistance? No problem. You’ll move through basic yoga postures a little more efficiently as you understand how each posture balances the body.

Join me 10:30 every Wednesday at Fenwick!

Feeling groggy this morning? 🥴 Try this while you’re still in your pajamas.

Roll out of bed and do this gentle popping off your heels. Inspired by qigong, this subtle movement stimulates your body without harsh effort.

Do this for at least 2-3 minutes, and you can increase the intensity only if it feels good. 💥This might mean popping your heels at a faster rate or raising your heels higher.

Let the rest of your body respond. Usually your arms and shoulders might wiggle a little bit.

Notice the change in energy. ⚡️

Wrists bothering you in vinyasa, plank, chaturanga, or downward dog?

Try these quick wrist mobility and forearm activation drills before class to help reduce strain and build resilience.

Try these simple drills before class:
🖐️ Side-to-side wrist loading
💪 Forearm activation
🔁 Wrist push-ups (harder than they look!)
👏 Hand activation to wake everything up

Strong, active hands = less dumping into the wrists in plank, chaturanga, and down dog.

A few minutes of prep can make a huge difference.

Staff Pose (Dandasana) looks simple — but it’s sneaky-strong. 💪✨

When you press down through the hands (without lifting the hips), you build shoulder stability, forearm/wrist strength, and wake up the core. From here, you can progress to knee lifts, L-sits, and even arm balances.

Sit tall, chest lifted, shoulders “in the sockets,” and move slow and controlled. Your body will know you’re working. 😉

🎥 Try it, save it, and let me know how it feels!

Feeling tight, compressed, or carrying a little holiday residue in your body?

This gentle seated twist flow helps you wring out the old, create space in the spine, and breathe a little deeper — perfect for mornings or whenever your chest and shoulders feel heavy.

You can do this seated cross-legged, on a block, kneeling, or even in a chair. Go slow. Breathe. Let the body open instead of forcing the twist.

Here’s to clearing out what we don’t need — and making room for what’s coming next. ✨
