Over the last few years, Team Wales has continued to make huge strides on the international stage, including a 9th place finish at last years World Championships in Bosnia against 30 of the best nations in the world.

Unfortunately, funding support has been reduced at a time when travel, accommodation, ferry and flight costs continue to rise. Like many amateur sports, representing your country comes with significant personal commitment and expense.

This fundraiser will help support Team Wales as we head to this year’s European and World Championships, allowing us to continue building on the progress we’ve made and compete against the very best teams in the world.

✅ Winner chooses either pole package or £1,500 cash
✅ Draw will be conducted LIVE from the banks of the Sorraia River in Portugal during the 2026 World Championships
✅ Minimum threshold of 250 entries required for the draw to proceed
✅ Option to donate your entry fee if the threshold is not reached, or receive a full refund

Absolutely incredible news for one of our own this evening! 🎉💰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🎣

Massive congratulations to John Harvey, who has won an unbelievable £60,000 in today’s Capital Catch Final! 👏

John originally qualified through the raffle draw and, after making it through to the final, went all the way and landed the huge top prize! What an incredible result and one that couldn’t happen to a nicer bloke.

Huge congratulations to Glyn Reynolds coming second in the Iberian masters last weekend. This competition has some of the best feeder anglers in the world fishing so to come second in that competition is a remarkable achievement….well done Glyn!

🎣 Sensas Challenge 2026 – Gloucester Canal 🇬🇧

What a weekend… and some fantastic results for Team Wales 👏

🏁 RESULTS

🔥 Wales Red – 5th Overall
💚 Wales Green – 12th Overall

Considering the standard of teams in this event, those are two very strong performances 💪

🏆 Standout Individual Performances

👏 Ian Leach – 3rd Overall
When he’s on the bream, there’s nobody better… and he showed his class again, backing it up with a 2nd in section on small fish as well. A top angler and someone I’m proud to call a good friend after 30+ years fishing together 🙌

👏 James Marge Thomas – 11th Overall (Wales Green)
Two seconds in section for 4 points overall — outstanding consistency 👊
Marge has worked incredibly hard on his fishing over the last couple of years, and the way he’s progressing, he’s knocking firmly on the door of another call up.

👏 Ty Woods – 14th Overall (Wales Green)
A brilliant performance with a 1st and 4th in section 💥
To put results like that together in this company is seriously impressive.

👏 Lee – 3rd & 4th
👏 Mike Thinnes – 5th & 6th
👏 Myself – 5th & 8th

Team Wales Approach This Year...

We really stepped things up this year.

A total of 9 anglers fished the CIPS League in the build-up, using it as a qualification route for the Wales Green team.

After a lot of hard graft, the team was:

• James Marge Thomas
• Ty Woods
• Iain Swanson
• Scott Thomas

👏 Massive well done to the lads finishing 12th overall, beating some top teams along the way….that’s a cracking result 💪

🔥 Wales Red Performance

A big thanks to Mike Thinnes (European Champion and Luxembourgs finest angler) for coming over to fish for the Red team and bringing bait with him 👍

After a couple of solid practice days and a clear plan, both teams executed brilliantly on Day 1 — sitting 3rd on weight ahead of the mighty Barnsley A 💥

Day 2 proved tougher. Although the draw didn’t look great on paper, that’s never an excuse.

We didn’t quite get it right on the second day and slipped slightly, finishing:

🏁 5th Overall – Wales Red

Massive well done to Dorking winning the event and James Dent winning it individually fir the second year running! Incredible!

Big thanks to Mark Downes, Christophe and everyone at Sensas for running a tremendous event - special mention to Mark Treasure and Kev Forty for the venue organisation - great job lads 👌👍

🤔 Reflections

A slightly frustrating second day for me personally. I took a gamble late on thinking I needed more than I did — in hindsight, sticking to what I was doing would probably have ended up 4th - 260grams off 4th!

We were only 3 points off 4th, which shows how tight it was!

But that’s fishing… sometimes you’ve got to roll the dice 🎲

👏 Overall, a brilliant weekend, great team spirit, and loads of positives to take forward.
