Happy 5-year Granite Anniversary to me! I all started when an ad for Granite Conditioning came across my Facebook feed. I was living in New Hampshire at the time, where every business is named “Granite XYZ,” so I assumed it was a new, local gym and clicked on the ad. As they say, the rest is history.
I was 41 when I began, with no experience in bodybuilding. I was a lifelong runner and was simply looking for a new form of exercise. I had no idea what I was capable of or how my body would change. I wasn’t unhappy with my body when I started, but I definitely love the physique that I have created since then. I don’t have a designer wardrobe, my hair is a mess, and I don’t wear makeup, but I have a body that money can’t buy. I also love the confidence that has grown along with my muscles. I currently train at an Air Force Base, where I’m often the only female among airmen and soldiers who warm up their bench press with way more weight than I could ever dream of deadlifting. But I walk into the weight room like I belong there, because I do.
Since finishing Accidently Hot last September, I’ve been happily maintaining my figure stage weight without tracking macros, without doing cardio, and without spending hours in the gym each day. It seems crazy, but it also shouldn’t be too surprising because I spent over 4 years laying the foundation for this. I know the Blitz doesn’t run that often, but if it ever comes back I would absolutely encourage you to do it. It truly teaches you everything you need to know.
So thank you Andrew Deasy and here are some highlights from the past 5 years:
Picture 1: June 2021—start of 1st Blitz, 103lbs, BMI = 21.5
Picture 2: April 2022—2nd Blitz & figure competition, 93.2lbs, BMI = 19.5
