🔥🏐 A MAJOR MILESTONE FOR FIREBIRDS!🏐🔥

As we look ahead to the next chapter of the VI Firebirds Volleyball Club, we are incredibly grateful to announce a new partnership with the Guana Fund, facilitated through Unite BVI

Through this partnership, Firebirds has received the largest donation to our programme to date! ❤️‍🔥

Our Club President, Chelsea Hodge, recently had the privilege of standing alongside fellow community leaders whose organizations have also received support from the Guana Fund—each working in their own way to strengthen and positively impact our Virgin Islands community.

For Firebirds, this support represents much more than a financial contribution. It is an investment in our athletes, our youth, our programmes and the future we are working to build through sport.

Guana Fund has a longstanding history of giving back to the Virgin Islands. Established through the generosity of the Jarecki family of Guana Island, Norman Island and the Falconwood Corp, the Fund has supported initiatives centred around education, youth development, community empowerment, nonprofit capacity building and learning. Its past contributions have included support for BVI public libraries and educational resources, while Dr. Henry Jarecki and his family have also played an important role in the development and support of the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP), which has served thousands of young people in the Territory.

We therefore extend a very special THANK YOU to the Jarecki family and the Guana Fund, and to Unite BVI for facilitating this opportunity and continuing to connect resources with organizations working at the community level. Unite BVI's work spans community enrichment, education, entrepreneurship and workforce development, and environmental conservation throughout the Territory.

There is so much more in store for Firebirds.

We continue to grow, develop our athletes, strengthen our programmes and create opportunities for youths and adults to participate in sport. As that work expands, we warmly welcome new partners who believe in what we're building and want to help us take it even further.

We are just so proud of the advancement of our club where our athletes and leaders are pushing themselves to be better !💪🏽💪🏽

Congratulations to Level 1 FIVB certified coaches Chelsea Hodge and Patricia Hodge who attended the training held in BVI this August 2026. 🎉🎉

The praise continues to be extended to ECVA - Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association and to Virgin Islands Volleyball Association for presenting these opportunities for sports enthusiasts to step up in a stronger professional capacity to support the growth of the sports we love within our beloved Virgin Islands. 👏🏾👏🏾

Both coaches send their love and appreciation to Coach Rick who lead the course with such enthusiasm and respect for the variation of participants attending the training. He mentioned that it was his first coaches course where all participants passed the assessments! That certainly deserves high praises and cheers 🥂 🎉🎉👏🏾👏🏾

We trust that the training provided them both with valuable insight and new strategies that will aid in the further development of our athletes.

And the celebration continues!🎉🎉

We are so proud of these two young ladies Kijana Callwood and Lyssa Lys - Alyssa Hawley who represented Firebirds and the Virgin Islands sitting on the National Senior Team for BVI in attendance of the ECVA Championship women’s and Men’s games Aug 2026!

Again we thank the Virgin Islands Volleyball Association and ECVA - Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association for these platforms and pathways which provided our athletes with opportunities to surpass their limits and perform on a grand stage. These avenues provide them with new connections and pathways for further schooling and career opportunities in the sports world.

After having a word with Kijana about her experience she highlighted that the training period leading up to the tournament had been well received and that she learned a lot and was able to gain more insight on what she needed to dial in on to improve her own skills and game awareness. She also made deeper connections with some of her teammates. She thought that the tournament ex*****on was pretty good in comparison to some of the experiences she’s had traveling elsewhere in a similar capacity.

Kijana has been accepted and will be attending Sumter University in South Carolina come January 2027🎉👩‍🎓📚

Congratulations again Kijana!🎉🐦‍🔥🐦‍🔥

After having a word with Alyssa about her experience she expressed “Training leading up to the tournament was good. We trained in spaces that helped a lot with ball control and being aware of your surroundings. The Coaching Staff worked us out very well.”
In reference to the tournament she added “ The Tournament was a great experience for my first time. My Team faught a good fight especially in the match against Bermuda. We definiely had our fingertips on Gold but maybe if training starter from last year we would've gelled more.”

Alyssa hasn’t yet settled on her school of choice but is looking forward to finalizing that decision soon as she continues on her volleyball journey.

Another proud achievement for us at Firebirds!! Throughout the ECVA Tournament our very own Club President stepped in front of the camera to keep the people informed with how the athletes and coaches were feeling as they competed aggressively against their opponents to secure their positions in the semi’s and finals.

There has been such great feedback from the community about how well they believe she represented the territory in her stage presence and approach to interviewing each coach, trainer and athlete she met with.

We thank ECVA - Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association for this opportunity to continue making meaningful connections in the volleyball community.
We also thank Virgin Islands Volleyball Association for reaching out and partnering with the club to provide this avenue for collaboration.
Lastly, major kudos to Chelsea Hodge for continuing to lead the club with integrity and honor. You have made all of our athletes and club members very proud and you continue to set great examples for our members to follow!

Many congrats to TEAM BVI on their performance throughout the ECVA Championships Games for Women and Men held in the BVI this August 2026! We are so proud of you!

We are also happy to congratulate the Government of the Virgin Islands and the Virgin Islands Volleyball Association on this remarkable achievement, being the first to host the games with both men and women games playing simultaneously on one court!

Firebirds is mostly grateful for the opportunity provided for many of our athletes to step up and support the Association with the logistics of running the games. They were excited to give back to the game/sport that they love and to also get close up view of what it takes to be considered a great volleyball player and be able to represent one’s country on a grand stage.

We look forward to future partnerships and wish the Association and the Government of the Virgin Islands continued success!

One of the special additions to VolleyRamma 2026 was the introduction of Firebirds Club Awards alongside our Overall Tournament Awards.

As hosts of the tournament, we wanted to do something special by recognizing the achievements of our own Firebirds athletes while also celebrating the outstanding performances of players across all participating teams. Our hope is that this tradition will continue to motivate our athletes while highlighting the incredible talent on display throughout the tournament.

Recognizing achievement is an important part of sport, and we were proud to celebrate the outstanding performances of our top three teams at the close of the 2026 VolleyRamma Tournament.

🥇 Lady Hawks
Receiving the Championship Trophy on behalf of Lady Hawks was Ms. Bramble, with the presentation made by Mr. Stephen Payne President of the Virgin Islands Volleyball Association (VIVA).

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Ephraim Penn, President of the BVI Olympic Committee, for sponsoring this year's Championship Trophy and supporting the continued development of volleyball in the Virgin Islands.
