One day we apparently woke up crazy enough to try roller derby… and honestly, it might be one of the best decisions we’ve made.

Whether it’s a midlife crisis, a questionable life choice, or just an excuse to wear skates and hit people legally (looking at you, Smoking Hot Wreck 😏), derby is quickly becoming one of those core memories we’ll be talking about for years.

The community, the laughs, the challenge, the bruises, and the feeling of doing something that scares you a little—it changes you.

So if you’ve been thinking about trying something new, this is your sign.

Come skate with us. You don’t have to know what you’re doing. Most of us are figuring it out as we go.

What an incredible trip!

We had the opportunity to be announced as derby players, work alongside some amazingly talented skaters, and experience the energy of a live bout up close. We learned more about the essentials of the game, got to step in and help where we could, and soaked up every minute of the action.

Watching experienced players do what they do best was inspiring, and one of the highlights was seeing a mother-and-daughter duo skate together. Moments like that remind us how special the roller derby community really is.

A huge thank you to Brick City Roller Derby for hosting the Yuma County girls and for living up to everything we’ve heard about derby culture—welcoming, supportive, full of personality, and incredibly fun to watch.

This first only made us more excited for what’s ahead. You’ll definitely be seeing more of us and the Brick City crew. We can’t wait to make that drive again and spend another day on skates!
