Jonathan and I are both dayshift nurses that work 12 hr shifts, 7a-7p. On the days we work, we get up to workout at 4am. Why? Because while we both have good intentions of going to the gym after work, 9 times out of 10 we don’t. Our intentions are good, but working on our feet all day is exhausting. So we decide to start our day at the gym. It’s great! Even on the busiest of days at work, we can just go home and relax afterwards.

I am no fitness expert but I have recently learned about the importance of total daily energy expenditure, which is the total amount of calories that your body burns daily. This is based on your metabolism, energy expenditure and food metabolism.
I’m sure we have all heard about walking 10,000 steps per day, but I’ve often asked myself why? According to research, walking can benefit us all in a number of ways. Firstly, it reduces the risk of obesity and heart disease, which is huge! But walking also helps with sleep, mood, muscle stiffness and muscle development.
Up until recently I never measured my “steps”, but lately acquired a fit bit. My results were a bit shocking. Some days my step count was way over 10,000 (I’m a nurse…), other days they were way under 10,000.
Being aware of my daily step count has made me more aware of my general health, which is something I aim to improve! Hopefully this tidbit of information with help you all in your fitness journey. As always, love you all! ❤️

What does the Sisterhood of Highland Games mean to me? It means a group of women who all choose to participate in the Highland Games. We are connected through our love of this sport. However, the friendships I have made around the world through this sport are incredible! The love we all share for each other is bar none. Our love of all things Scottish, including our ancestry is a strong bond. When one of us is down, the rest of the sisterhood jumps right in to encourage and look after you. I will be forever grateful for this incredible group of women, who I now call my sisters! I love you all. ❤️

Hello there! Jon and I decided to start this athlete page to post about our lives together as Scottish Highland games athletes. This will include diet, lifting, training and game posts.

We started this journey in the fall of 2022 with our first game in Tulsa, OK at Scotfest. We have since attended games all over the country and world. We have dealt with several physical set backs but we keep moving forward.

We love the Highland game community. The athletes are genuine, salt of the earth type people. They bring competition, but also love and support and sometimes a kick in the arse when needed.
