In the North of Patagonia there is a place called very similar to Belgian's mecca : FREY.
Amazing granite needles up Cerro Catedral. Lots of fun crack climbing and also some old style adventure all the way to Cerro Principal, the highest point.
A lot of fun with !

Just North of Sevilla we found this germ, Cerro del Hierro, the Iron Hills !
It used to be an iron mine, but it is today a really fun place for hikers and climbers !
The formation of all those little needles is so cool to hike through on different levels with tunels and bridges. A real maze !
The climbing is fun as well as you are sometimes on an orange rock full of iron and doing some little summits !
There are a lot of sectors which would be good for hot summer days as they are all shady but we preferred the sunshine in this season.
Nice meeting up with our friends going for their own journey East !

Another year has just passed and what a beautiful one it was.
Again full of adventure, friendship, meetings and fun !

2022 had started in Australia 🦘 wrapping up our amazing journey to head to Thailand 🇹🇭 for world class Climbing and a bath of culture.

Back to Europe then, happy to meet up again with friends, family, the mountains and my beloved van !
Climbing in the Alps, guiding expeditions through the wilderness of Norway, getting a new job in active tourism and most of all meeting up with so many great new people !

Getting a partnership with and still being on the road with the best partner in life 😁
Being back to the home gym was also a highlight to see all those familiar faces and pumping a little bit the muscles.

Back on the road now for new adventure, 2023 will the year where we CAN, we firstly CANary and then we will CANada but for sure we can get another amazing year on the go !

Have you ever heard about "La Taillante"? Once you've done it you can't forget about it!
We are in the Queyras, Alps, the climb by itself is not hard at all, 12 pitches, 350m elevation, 5C max. But it's mentally challenging! You need to be strong enough when you can place only 3 QuickDraw in a 50m pitch. Your calf's muscle need to be ready to burn for this super slabby wall.
Then more challenge, the ridge traverse... It took us 1h40 in this airy landscape, wiped by the strong freezing wind at 3200m elevation...
After that it's still not over, to go down we need to go through the "normal way". It's a downclimb of 350m but without a rope...
It took us nearly 10 hours total, in an absolutely magnificent scenery. Definitely alpine climbing.
At the end, it offered us strong memories and the feeling of being alive!

Eh, did you know we have a partnership with the brand Simond ?!

It might well be the first one we officially signed up for and we did it for a reason.

Simond is a brand selling gear for rock climbing and mountaineering and is sold by Decathlon.
Decathlon is indeed divided in multiple sub-brands depending on the sport/activity of the equipment they sell. You’ve probably heard of Quechua, Forclaz, Triban, Artengo, BTwin, Kalenji,.. and much more !

Well, most of those brands have been created by Decathlon into different department… but Simond is different, even if it is sold today by the same shop, it has existed since 1820 and is born in the real capital of mountaineering: Chamonix!
Simond has joined Decathlon in 2008 after a long history of creating gear for the mountain people, right below the faces of the Mont Blanc. It is still the case of the lab and factory even if the products are sold worldwide due to the huge network of Decathlon.
Simond has joined forces with this giant as it was sharing the same values as them, and it is the same reason which made us go towards Simond to get into a partnership.
Indeed, the whole idea is to spread the love of the mountain, in a safe and affordable way.

It has all started for us while we were travelling in Australia and realized how often we were speaking about those brands to people met on hikes, clims or trails, as over there, all the outdoors shops are really expensive and when you want to get into a sport without knowing if you will be continuing for sure, spending a little less is always a good thing, isn’t it?

Therefore, we approached Simond Belgium through a good friend, Pierre Dewit , which has been an ambassador for the brand for many years and is really happy about their collaboration. After a few talks, here we are, sharing our adventures with and through Simond, testing their gear and giving you a peak of what they look like.

What do we like about it ?

A few of the top reasons we do like Simond, and even Decathlon in general are the following:

– Affordable gear for people who want to get into a sport without spending fortunes
– Good quality gear as well when you get into the high-performance products, at a price still beating most other outdoor brands
– The development team, we found, is still working actively towards innovation while a lot of the well-known outdoors brands seem to us to be keeping their best sellers without much new creation
– A after-sale product like no other, responding and reading all reviews
– The return policy is just incredible, which other shops allows you to bring back gear (including climbing shoes) within a FULL year if you’re not happy with the product?!
– Good quality products in general

What do we like less about it ?

Of course, there are a few cons which we are aware of but happily accept, most of which they’re working on:

– The image of the brand/s is still considered as “beginner/cheap”, but as we say, the clothes doesn’t make the man.
– Some design need working on to be more “up to date/high performance class” (while some others are really good, like the last technical hoody in merinos which we love, both woman and men)
– Some high-tech products need improving to compete with main other big brands
– Some types of products are missing from the catalog, but we’re sure this is in the making for most!

So here you go, you might now have a better understanding of why we are tagging into our insta posts, and why!

Feel free to ask us any questions we might answer and keep opening yourself to this beautiful world around us !

Beautiful hike in Norway 🇸🇯
It is in the top 10 best of the country and this shot shows why ! The Besseggen Ridge is amazing, panorama on the Jotunheimen and then those two lakes almost connected but not. It gets narrow and fun scramble and this time !
A must do !

And the power of the wilderness stroked again ! An amazing expedition in the Rondane National Park with an amazing team, full of energy despite the tricky weather and other challenges met along the way !
We crossed rivers, we hiked up summits, we walked in deep valleys, dense forests, open bare land and over many many rocks.
Thanks again to .expeditions to trust me to guide for them in this amazing setting.
Thanks for all the team to have been so amazing, loving and involved !
