I love that there are so many people enjoying Pilates! But the boom has really highlighted how easily people follow trends. It's imperative to ask your teacher how long their training was to ensure you are in safe hands. When was the last time they took a class from a mentor? How are they continuing their own practice to ensure they are teaching their best?

My first matwork qualification was in 2017 and took 6 months, my reformer qualification was in 2019 and took 1 year. I'm now in my Comprehensive qualification which is 18 months long and over 600hrs. They were rigorous trainings which require me to observe other teachers, my own teaching observed multiple times, to be a student in classes as well as taking away what I've learned and practicing in my own body.

Pilates is meant to be a Practice, Not a Perfect and your teacher should be finding progression every chance they can get because you deserve the best! ♥️

Reformer Pilates businesses in the UK rose nearly ten-fold between 2024 and 2025.

This is such a great article. I'd look for an instructor that has mentorship, practice hours, teaching hours, observation hours and in person education. Keeping the integrity and safety in Pilates is really the whole point.

😅 great intentions! Social media gets bottom of the rung again. Here's day 13-23 of march matness. I find some of these the most difficult exercises, and sometimes I wonder if I'll ever actually be able to do them. Lots of practice and finding them across the studio!

Hi! Back again, over a week later. Obviously, way behind in this whole March Matness situation. But hey ho - real life clients matter more than exercising on the internet. 🤣

This is sped up SUPER fast - it was about 5 minutes long, down to just over 1 min if that gives you perspective.

4 March - Single leg circle
5 March - rolling like a ball
6 March - Single leg stretch
7 March - Double leg stretch
8 March - Spine Stretch Forward
9 March - Open Leg Rocker
10 March - Corkscrew (also when your upside down your hips are opening way more than you think 😅)
11 March - Saw
12 March - Swan/Swan Dive (hilarious sped up 🤣)

Thanks for watching 😍

Happy March MATness! Its been YEARS since I posted but figured I'd join in to help me remember the order! I'll be doing mine grouped and in real time. So you can see the mental gymnastics it takes to think of all the corrections whilst also counting. 😅

Day 1 The Hundred
Day 2 The Roll Up
Day 3 The Roll Over

I hope you enjoy because just doing these I over boiled pasta - twice and got yelled at for not coming quick enough when the little one bellowed that he was thirsty. 🤣😘

Advanced 2 - The final session of my Comprehensive Training . A year of challenging, yet incredibly rewarding Pilates. I've made some amazing friends who have taught me so much and I'm forever grateful! Especially to for all the answers to all my questions. 🫣

I started this journey to regain my confidence, refocus my teaching, and find direction after having P. It's exceeded all my expectations and I'm truly going to miss these weekends.

Time to hit the studio and get ready for my final test out in a few months! 💪🎉

After a week of being out of the studio the playground will do for some practice! Anyone look at everyday objects and think I could do xyz on that 😅. Do you see horseback too? 🤣
