Have you ever gone around the whole island!?!

Corinne joined Luis on his Nubble lighthouse island tour and definitely got her cardio for the day😅

It took ~1hr but there was plenty to see like tiny nudibranchs, schools of juvenile po***ck, massive boulders covered in green urchins, sea stars, winter flounders, a tiny clump of soft coral, and of course lots of lobsters!!

At the end they met a nice man who was trying out some super cool vintage dive gear!!

Pretty cool pigment abnormality on a winter flounder seen at Nubble today!!!

Abnormalities can occur in nature from genetic mutations and environmental influences during the larval stage prior to or during metamorphosis. Flounders can exhibit discoloration, eyes that migrate to the wrong side of their head or partial eye migration, and ambicoloration where their underside (which is usually white) develops dark coloring.

Have you ever seen a snailfish 🐌🐠 !?!

Did you know these chunky tadpole looking fish live in New England waters???

There are ~450 described snailfish species which inhabit cold marine waters from the Arctic to Antarctica. They have an insane range and can be found in shallow tide pools all the way down into deep sea trenches!!

This gelatinous looking fish has no scales, a big head, and a narrow tail. Like lumpsuckers, the fins on their belly (pelvic fins) are modified into a disk which lets them stick onto rocks, seaweed, or even larger animals like crabs!

If you're looking for snailfish you'll most likely find them tucked into a piece of seaweed with their tail wrapped around like a sleeping cat.

A foggy morning dive at Ship's Cove on Cape Elizabeth!!

Water temp was 58°F and we were treated to tons of fun critters!! Lots of crabs, lobsters, sea stars a couple of flounders, some huge sea lemon nudis laying eggs, and bryozoans making some really cool shapes on the kelp!!

Lana even found an old bullet casing which made for a fun dive souvenir!!

Another day, another few great dips on the poling shipwreck with Yankee Pearl👏

A few mid week dips on the Chester poling!! We lucked out with 35-40ft viz on the first dive.

The deck is more concave every time we visit. Surely we’ll not have long before more large parts collapse.

We saw a good amount of northern red anemone, a few lobster, a sea raven, a few giant lion’s mane, several smaller flounder, cunner, Finger sponge.

Water was 49°F at 98ft.

You drop down on the Patriot shipwreck in Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. There has been unseasonably great visibility this year so you’re greeted with stunning views of the wreck. The last time you were here you saw a massive torpedo ray. Super cool. It can’t possibly get better, right????

And then you look up and a freaking humpback whale cruises by and circles the wreck!!!

Luis had great seal dives with Captain Rob’s charters.

The first dive was the cribs on Appledore Island, Old pier. The second dive was at Duck island.

After their dives, they tied up to one of the Star Island moorings and had the boat tender, take them in. Luis gave a tour of the marine lab. They grabbed a bite to ear at the Gosport Grill before heading back in. It was a nice little side excursion to a good day of seal diving!
