What's the first step to growing your money?

You Grow!

That means:

* Learning new ways of being in a relationship with money

* Being willing to feel uncomfortable

* Changing patterns and behaviors that no longer serve you

* Taking action even when it feels hard

* Practicing who you want to be with money--every day.

Take the first step!

Consistency is the key.

What are you doing with consistency?

* Saving money or spending it?

* Behaving in ways that contribute to financial abundance or to financial lack?

* Paying attention to where your money is going or giving your attention to something else to satisfy you in the moment.

* Sticking to the strategy that you put in place or reverting to old patterns.

Whatever you're doing in your relationship with money, you're doing it with consistency, either consistently making decisions to keep you in the same place or consistently taking steps toward financial peace, health and wealth.

What can you do different, with consistency, for a more peaceful and prosperous financial life?

Changing money behaviors takes time. It takes patience and persistence on your part.

You've got to want to be someone else with money and not the same person you've always been. That's how change begins.

This month's money insights and tips focuses on "How To Change Your Money Behaviors."

Ways to Increase Your Cash Flow:

* Find another revenue stream: A part-time job or a side-hustle like pet-sitting, dog walking or selling items on Facebook Marketplace.

* Spend less: Let go of the idea that you want stuff that you know you don't really need. That thinking is from a limited place.

Be willing to sacrifice now for a better financial future. Later, you’ll be able to afford those things you've always wanted.

* Create a debt payoff strategy for your credit cards: If you consistently carry balances on your cards, besides throwing away money every month on interest, the amount you pay each month is similar to a fixed payment--like a mortgage--that remains a part of your monthly expenses for years.

Credit card debt puts a super tight squeeze on your cash flow, limiting your ability to focus on your other important financial goals and making you feel like you're never ahead.

* Pay attention to your thoughts and emotions around money: Winning with money isn't all about the numbers. Financial success is largely made up of the way you think and act with money. Do you spend most of your time in a victim mindset or a warrior mindset?

If you're living in a victim mindset, you'll make money decisions that align with that identity.

If you're living in a warrior mindset, you'll make money decisions that align with that identity.

The good news is that you get to choose which one you want to live in. You don't have to continue choosing the same identity every day with money if it's not getting you the result you want.

Create a budget, spending plan, money plan, whatever you choose to call it.

You've heard it all before.

And, until you create one, you aren't in control of your money or being deliberate in telling your money where to go.

If you haven't created a money plan, you likely aren't tracking your spending either, so it's just a guess on what you spend every month.

I've lived by a money plan every year from the age of 32, after my husband passed away, and it's why I've been able to build the wealth that I have.

Your money plan is something you create, in alignment with your dreams and goals. It's not to restrict you, it's to empower you. Remember that.

People who are successful with money are intentional in the way they make decisions with their money:

* They know that financial success means they'll need to behave their way to it. It's not something to wait for. It's something to strive for.

* Good money habits must be practiced on a daily basis, not just once in awhile, but a mindfulness approach each and every day.

* Deliberate decisions open up a pathway to success. A decision to do nothing or avoid reality slams the door shut.

Spend time every week on your financial health and ask yourself these questions to help you discern what action steps to take:

* How does my cash flow look this month?

* Am I overspending? If so, where am I overspending?

* Am I following my monthly money plan?

* What one behavior could I change this week that would get me on course to a better relationship with money?

* Am I emotionally spending? If so, why am I emotionally spending? What else could I focus on instead of spending the next time I feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or stressed?

If you want a different financial life than the one you're living, you'll need to harness some change.

Here are a few ways to do that:

1. Disrupt behaviors you're currently practicing with new and better ones. If you typically emotionally spend, find something else to do instead. If you spend money without a plan every month, choose to create one and tell your money where it's going.

Keep disrupting behaviors until you've created brand new patterns that become the new and normal money habits in your life--now and in the future.

2. Search for new ideas and beliefs about you and money. If you're not searching to learn anything new about you and money, you'll be average, at best in your relationship with it.

Invite new ideas and beliefs about money into your life, ones that move you to take control, in an empowering, take charge kind of way.

3. Seek peace. A financial life in disarray feels like chaos. You have no real plan or you're ignoring the one you created because it feels too hard.

Often times the hard thing is the right thing and what will ultimately bring you long-lasting peace. Stick with your new behaviors, ideas and beliefs long enough and you'll have the peace you've been longing for.

Are you in creation or fear mode in your relationship with money?

This image (of my backyard after a snowstorm) reminds me of what it takes to be in creation mode when it comes to making money work for you.

To be in creation mode, you must get out of the dark space you're in and the way you feel about you and money.

You must move toward the light, one step at a time, with courage and faith.

The darkness is where stuckness resides. The light is where change, abundance and freedom live. Seek the light!
