Jeff and Jerry Garland made a half day trip this morning to Fork and put some nice size bass in the boat. Our bite was a little slow early but it was picking up about the time we had to go. We left a bunch of suspended bass in 36’ but they will be ready to bite on our next trip.

Ryan Spillars from West Monroe brought along his daughter, Mallory today to get in on some big bass catching action and we did just that! Our morning started off slowly and we were just not seeing many bass and those we saw on Livescope were not willing to bite. The weather started to change and the winds picked up from the North and we started seeing big bass show up. We had a flurry right before lunch and decided to take a break and get a burger. The ever changing wind and weather today may have affected our success but I think we ended up with a successful trip but as usual our biggest bass jumped off before we could get them in the boat. We found bass as deep as 35’ today.

We had another good day catching big bass. Jim Gresham and Sarah enjoyed a cool morning and the bite was fairly good. We did have a good many swings and misses but Sarah put some more big ones in the boat.

Today Jim Gresham brought his grand daughter, Sarah along to catch some big bass. Sarah had a couple of big bites get off but she ended up with some very nice bass on n the boat for pictures. The wind and rain cut our trip short today but we will get her a chance at a big one tomorrow.

SLOW START! FAST FINISH! After fishing the first five hours without a bite, I was beginning to think we might as well call it a half day trip and head home. I have learned to keep looking until you find some fish ready to bite. Finally about 12:30-1 pm we started seeing big bass on the Livescope and Jim Gresham started boating one big one after another. Jim landed a 35 lb. Best 5 in about 15 minutes and he lost a real giant bass today. His granddaughter Sarah will be fishing with us tomorrow and I hope she catches the big one that got away today.

Jon Snyder brought along his son, Clay from Tyler and they boated some quality bass. They had one over the slot and another one almost 9 lbs.

Good friend, Mike Perkins and his grandson, Caleb joined me this morning with the goal of getting Caleb a new PB. His first bass was only 4.5 lbs and then he jumped off a giant bass and missed a couple of bites. The next stop, Caleb hooked into a big one. His new PB is now 7.85 big bass. Mike caught a nice one and also had another big one jump off near the boat. We had several more chances but the overall bite was slower than usual. I think the bass were resting up after the Skeeter boat event.

Whew! PawPaw camp is over. My son, Brandon from Conway AR arrived to pick up grandsons but we made one last trip this morning for a mess of crappie. Brandon and I caught 50 nice crappie and Archer & Fish Guice were our deck hands. I really enjoyed the boys this week and they caught a bunch of big bass and enjoyed a bunch of good food. PawPaw camp is closed and I am back to work tomorrow.

Hometown friends from LA, Jim Gresham and Bill Scott treated another Ringgold LA buddy, Rusty Beard to a big bass catching trip on Lake Fork. The mission today was to get Rusty his PB and try together over 8 lbs. We enjoyed a very cool start this morning with a chilly boat ride but the bite was hit all day. Rusty got one over 7 early and then landed a 8.70 beauty. Everyone caught some good ones today.

Paw Paw camp got started a little late after PawPaw got back from a Dr. appt. Fisher got off to a fast start with a big one in the boat 5 minutes after we started at 10:30. We quickly boated 5 or 6 more and then met MiMi at Jamie’s for lunch. We ended up with 11 big ones today and the boys are not losing as many each day. Hayden is headed home tomorrow and I have a trip and then we will finish up camp Friday after catching some take home crappie.
