Yakima Shockwave

Yakima Shockwave The Yakima Shockwave are a future pro arena football team based in Yakima, Washington. They are named for the former NIFL team that played in 2001 only.

The Yakima Shockwave are a once and future professional arena football team based in Yakima, Washington. We were the very FIRST team to play in the Yakima Valley at the Yakima Valley Sundome, playing in the National Indoor Football League in 2001. Our geographic rival was the Southern Oregon Heat of Medford, Oregon. We both folded at season's end for various reasons. We were followed by the Yakima

Valley Warriors (American Indoor Football) in 2011 and the Yakima Canines (American West Football Conference) in 2021, who both (like us) played in the same arena and both (like us) folded after one season. The "new" Shockwave plan on returning to action in the near future and, along with the "new" Southern Oregon Heat, have committed to American Indoor Football for the future as we search for a solid, stable and RESPONSIBLE ownership group and investors willing to give the indoor game an opportunity and give us an opportunity at redemption and resurrection. Thank you for visiting and we encourage you to share your memories of the Yakima Shockwave and show us any souvenirs you may have stored away.

Cedar Rapids, IA – In a landmark announcement that marks a new era for professional indoor football in Eastern Iowa, Rick Kranz, General Manager and Head Coach of the Cedar Rapids River Kings, has announced a full rebrand of the franchise. Effective immediately, the team will return to its roots and will now be known as the Cedar Rapids Titans.

"I feel like this was the right move for the team, the community, and the fans," said Kranz. "The Titans is where it all started, and I felt like we should go back to the roots."

The name change is more than symbolic—it represents a revitalization of the franchise’s mission, energy, and commitment to excellence both on and off the field. Since taking over leadership, Kranz has focused on building a stronger connection with the Cedar Rapids community and elevating the entire organization to new heights.

"We want the community of Cedar Rapids and our fans to know that we will be the hottest ticket in town. On and off the field, we’re going to deliver an experience that everyone can be proud of," said Kranz.

The Titans are not just reintroducing a beloved name—they are building a movement. The organization is placing a high priority on community engagement and will be seen throughout the city in schools, churches, local events, and everywhere in between.
"Everywhere you go, you’ll either see us or hear us. We’re going to be active and visible. This team belongs to the people of Cedar Rapids," Kranz continued.

Fans can also expect a noticeable improvement in the caliber of play. The Titans are assembling a roster filled with talent from top college programs and former professional players, including veterans of the NFL.
