Race Recap from Wythe Raceway:
We made our way to Wythe Raceway last night for the Mid-East Modified Tour portion of the event. Once again we had Corey Gordon behind the wheel.
Hot laps didn’t start off too good, Corey fought a tight race car and laid down the 12th fastest lap out of a 17 car field.
Qualifying was a little better after making some adjustments to the car. Corey would go out and lay down the 6th fastest lap and that would put him starting p6 in the feature.
Feature time rolled around and on the initial start Corey would be inside the top 5. Running inside the top 5 for most of the race, with less than 10 laps left he would work his way to 2nd and with 3 to go he ran the leader down and made a move for lead but would come up short. On the last lap the car was visually slowing down and he would hang on to finish 2nd. We found that the right front wheel bearing had failed and come apart. Sometimes luck is on your side in this sport.
Can’t thank Mideast and Wythe Raceway enough for putting on a great show for the 602 modifieds. Also can’t thank Corey enough for the last two weekends of success. I want to thank my sponsors, crew, and supporters for everything they do. Our Terror Race Cars has been dialed in as of late, can’t thank Blake Terry enough for building such bad ass race cars and the help he provides when needed.
We will take some time off to fix the damage and relax with family on vacation!
