Final week of Spring Skates before tryouts 🏒

This is your last chance to get on the ice with the Phantoms before tryouts begin. Drop-ins are welcome all week. Come skate, compete, and get a feel for our pace and environment.

Open to 2015–2019 birth years.
Get extra reps in, meet the coaches, and be ready for tryouts.

Meet Coach Nick 🇸🇪🏒

Nick Ankarstad brings a lifelong passion for hockey and player development to the Phantoms. Originally from Sweden, he built his game on skill, creativity, and hockey IQ—playing in Sweden’s U20 Elite Division with FoC Farsta before continuing at Lindenwood University.

Now entering his third year with the Phantoms, Coach Nick moves up to lead the 10U group after coaching 9U last season.

His approach is simple: create a positive, high-energy environment where players build confidence and improve every day. With a focus on skating, stickhandling, and decision-making, his fast-paced, high-rep practices help players turn skills into real game impact.

🔥 2016 Head Coach

The Chicago Phantoms are proud to have Nick Ankarstad as the 2016 Head Coach for the upcoming season!

Originally from Sweden 🇸🇪, Nick brings a lifelong passion for hockey and player development to the Phantoms organization. He developed his game playing Juniors in 🇸🇪 Sweden’s U20 Elite Division with FoC Farsta before continuing his hockey career at Lindenwood University.

Entering his third year with the Phantoms, Nick previously coached the 9U team and will now lead the 10U group this season.

🏒 Coach Nick brings a strong foundation in skill, creativity, and hockey IQ. He is known for creating a positive, high-energy environment where players can build confidence and grow their skills every day.
🏒 Both his on and off ice practices focus on skating, stickhandling, and decision-making through fast-paced, high-repetition drills designed to translate directly into game situations.

We’re excited to see the continued growth and development of our 2016 team under Coach Nick’s leadership! 🥅🏒

Player of the Game at the CCM Chi-Town Shuffle — awarded for attitude and effort 💪

This isn’t about goals or points. It’s about how you show up every shift, how you compete, and how you support your teammates. This weekend, these players set the standard:

🚀 Jack – brought consistent effort from start to finish. He never stopped moving his feet, stayed engaged in every play, and showed what it means to compete every shift.

🔄 Stevie – played a complete 200-foot game. First one back defensively, jumped into the rush offensively, and kept his feet moving all game long. Relentless effort on both sides of the puck.

📈 Viktor – showed a great attitude all weekend. He took feedback, made adjustments, and it translated directly into success on the ice. His hard skating created pressure and drew penalties, giving the team opportunities.

🧠 Runqi – made smart, composed decisions on the defensive side. His stick was constantly disrupting plays and taking away time and space from opponents. A steady, reliable presence every shift.

Effort like this is what drives development and team success. Proud of this group. 👊🏒

Spring is around the corner, and our Spring Development Program begins March 31 and runs through May 7.

Schedule:
Tuesdays: 6:20–7:20
Fridays: 6:30–7:30

Please note that on Friday, April 3, the session will run from 5:40–6:40.

We’re looking forward to a fast-paced environment focused on skill development, decision-making, and building confidence with the puck.
