The 2026 St Catherine track and field season concluded at the MHSAA Division 3 State Final at Kent City HS. Here the Stars had 5 athletes participate in 4 events against the best in Division 3.
In the Field Ava Lassey, competed in the Shot Put and Discus. She finished 29th in the Discus. Then in the Shot Put she made it to finals to finish in 9th place, re-breaking her School record with a throw of 35 ft 6 inches.
On the track, Reagan Lees took 11th in the 400 meter final with a time of just over 60 seconds. Finally, the 4x400 meter relay team of Lees, Conners, Cook, and Wenderski took 24th with a time of 4:25.

Last night at the Oakland County Championships, 3 school records were rebroken, and 2 athletes received all county status. First Ava Lassey took 6th in the Shot Put with a new PR/School record of 35 ft 5 in. Next in the 400 dash Reagan Lees took 7th in a new PR/school record of 59.3. Finally the 4x400 team took 17th with a new School Record of 4:21.01.

The 2026 St Catherine track and field championship season continued with the Linden Post, a PR meet. Here the ladies of St Catherine competed against 10 other schools at Linden HS in an un-scored competition.
The day began with the field events. First in Discus, the ladies of St Catherine were led by Ava Lassey who took 4th place with a throw of 91 ft . Also in the discus Nora Cordon took 16th, Jillian Lassey took 26th, and Mary McPeake had a season’s best throw for 27th. Next, in Long Jump, Gemma Gordon jumped to a new personal best of 13 ft 5.5 in to take 14th. In high jump, Josie Connors jumped 4ft 6in good for 9th place. And finally, in the shot put competition, Mary McPeake led the way with a big PR throw of over 27 ft good for 6th place and a medal. Nora Condon took 18th to conclude the action in the field
The on track action began with the 1600 meter eliminator run, in which Josie Conners won the women’s competition. Ari Medel followed with a 19th place finish in the traditional 1600 meter run. Next in the 300 meter hurdles Azalea Cook took 7th with a time just outside 57 seconds. The 800 followed in which Veronica DiFranco took 7th with a time just inside of 2:50, Charlize Sitto took 15th. In the 200 meter dash, both Gemma Gordon and Jillian Lassey ran personal best of 31.9 and 32.6 respectively. Finally, in the 3200 meter run Mia Karim and Jillian Lassey concluded the day both running PR’s in the event to take 8th and 10th overall.

The 2026 St Catherine track and field championship season continued at the MHSAA Regional 28 championships at Stockbridge HS. Here the ladies of St Catherine competed against the 13 other D3 programs. The day finished with St. Catherine taking second in the team competition matching the program's best ever regional performance.

This performance qualifies her for the State finals. In the 300 meter hurdles, the stars took home two more all region medals, with Azalea Cook taking 6th with a new PR of 56.5, and Josie Connors taking 8th to medal. The 2026 St Catherine track and field season continued on a cool, cloudy day outside of Ann Arbor. Here the ladies of St Catherine competed against the 11 other schools in The CHSL St Anne Track and Field Championship. In this competition the Stars took home the second place trophy finishing 11 points behind the champions from Greenhills.
The day began with the field events. First in Discus, the ladies of St Catherine were led by a championship throw from Ava Lassey, she won the league title with a throw of 96 ft a season’s best. Also in the throws Nora Cordon took placed 8th with a PR of 72 ft. Next, in Long Jump Gemma Gordon jump to a new personal best of 12 ft 10 in to take 4th, good enough for all league honors. In high jump, Josie Connors matched her personal best and took home the silver medal with a jump of 4ft 6in. And finally, in the shot put competition, Ava Lassey won her second title of the day with a throw of over 34ft, she was followed by Mary McPeake who took 7th with a season’s best throw of 26ft.

In the 300 meter hurdles, the stars took home two more all league medals, with Azalea Cook taking 3rd with a new PR of 56.5, and Josie Connors taking 4th. Next up in the 800 meter run, Veronica DiFranco took 10th running just outside her season’s best at 2:54, and Charlize Sitto took 11th with a new personal best of 3:01. After the 800 came the final sprint final in which Reagan Lees led the way taking 4th for her 3rd all league performance of the day. She was followed by Tina Wenderski who took 7th. In the last individual event of the day Ari Medel took 8th place to score and medal in the 3200 meter run, and Ava Lassey took 11th in a new Personal Best. The race concluded with the 4x400 meter relay in which the stars took home silver medal winning performance running a 4:26 time.
After a great day of competition the ladies of St Catherine move on to compete at the Regional Championship meet at Stockbridge HS on Saturday May 16th.

The 2026 St Catherine track and field season continued on a cold but calm Saturday at the 61st Annual Erie-Mason Invite. Here the ladies of St Catherine competed against 9 other schools for south-eastern Michigan in an unscored invite.
The day began with the field events. First in Discus Ava Lassey led the way by taking third with a throw of 87 ft to take 3rd, Jillian Lassey also competed taking 19th. Next in High Jump Josie Conners took home a tie for 7th place. Finally in the field Ava Lassey won the shot put competition with a throw over 32 ft 7 inches. Jillian Lassey took 16th with a new personal best. Due to Ava Efforts in the field she was awarded the female field athlete of the meet.
The on track action began with the 200 meter dash prelims. Here Tina Wenderski took 7th in the prelims to qualify for finals. Then, she took 7th in the finals later in the meet. Next, on track was Ari Medel in the 1600 meter race, she took 13th with her 2nd best time ever. This was followed by the 400 meter dash, in which Jillian Lassey ran a new personal best to take 15th. Also, Reagan Lees took 2nd with a new personal best and school record time of 59.86. This time puts her 4th in the state in division 3. The 300 meter hurdles followed, in which Josie Conners led the way taking 8th with a new personal best, she was closely followed by Azalea Cook, she took 9th with both ladies going under 58 seconds. Finally, the day ended with the 4x400 meter relay in which the team of Cook, Wenderski, Conners, and Lees took 3rd with a time of 4:32.
After a good day of competition the ladies of St Catherine move on to compete at the Catholic League Championship Meet this Wednesday at Ann Arbor Greenhills.

The 2026 St Catherine track and field season continued on a beautiful spring afternoon at Ann Arbor Greenhills High School at the Greenhills “Friendly”. Here the ladies of St Catherine competed against 6 other teams from the CHSL St. Anne’s Division and took 2nd behind the host school.

The day began with the field events. First in Long Jump Gemma Gordon took 3rd with a jump of 11-6. Next in Discus, Ava Lassey took 2nd with a season’s best throw of 89ft. She was followed by Nora Cordon who threw a personal best throw of 65ft, Jillian Lassey and Mary McPeake also threw Personal and season’s best throws respectively. Next in Shot Put, Ava Lassey won the competition with a throw of 33-3.5, she was followed by Mary McPeake who took 7th to score for the team. Nora Condon took 10th and Jillian Lassey threw a PB throw to end the throws. In High Jump Josie Connors took 2nd with a jump 4-5.

The 800 meter run followed the hurdles, it was here where Veronica Difranco ran a season’s best time of 2:54 good for 5th. She was followed by Ari Medel and Mia Karim who took 9th and 11th overall. Next in the women’s 200 Reagan Lees led the way resetting her school record running 26.73 to take 2nd in the competition. She was followed by Christina Wenderski who took 6th in a time of 28.67 a new PB. Finally in the 4x400 meter relay the team Cook, Connors, Wenderski, and Lees ran a season’s best and 2nd best time in school history of 4:24.2. This time was good enough to end the night with a win in the 4x400.
After a good night of competition the ladies of St Catherine move on to compete at the Erie Mason Invite next Saturday May 2nd.
