Tristan Wakefield’s Clutch Hitting Propels Winona Varsity Wildcats To Victory Over South Iron Varsity Panthers

Tristan Wakefield drove in five runs on two hits to lead Winona Varsity Wildcats past South Iron Varsity Panthers 13-0 on Thursday. Wakefield hit a home run to center field in the third inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the first inning, scoring two.
Winona Varsity Wildcats won thanks in part to nine runs in the first inning. Drew Miley hit a solo home run to left field, an error scored one run, Stetson Haynes tripled, scoring two runs, Conley Voyles singled, scoring two runs, Blake Eggert singled, scoring one run, and Wakefield singled, scoring two runs.
Winona Varsity Wildcats scored one run in the bottom of the second on a solo home run to left field by Krew Bowde.
Winona Varsity Wildcats scored three runs in the bottom of the third on a home run to center field by Wakefield.
Wakefield earned the win for Winona Varsity Wildcats. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Isaac Ipock led Winona Varsity Wildcats with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Winona Varsity Wildcats stole four bases in the game.
Drazic Dinkins led South Iron Varsity Panthers with one hit in two at bats.
