The strength of any successful program can be found in its grass-root efforts from a lot of devoted coaches, parents and athletes. These programs include the youth league, travel teams and especially the Middle School Program all working together with a common vision with the high school program and your Winfield Generals has the best in the state of West Virginia at the middle school level led by Coach Jason Beller.

Coach Beller has built an outstanding basketball career defined by excellence as both a player and a coach. His passion for the game, commitment to player development, and winning culture have made him one of the most respected basketball minds in the region.

Beller's playing career began at Nitro High School, where he established himself as one of the school's greatest players from 1996 to 2000. He scored 1,543 career points, finishing as the Wildcats' second all-time leading scorer while earning two Honorable Mention All-State selections and First Team All-Kanawha County honors. A member of Nitro's 1999 State Tournament team, he also ranks among the Top 15 all-time scorers in Kanawha County and knocked down an impressive 262 career three-pointers.

Following high school, Beller continued his career at the University of Rio Grande, where he helped the RedStorm reach the 2001 NAIA Final Four. He later transferred to West Virginia State University, becoming one of the premier shooters in school history. He still holds the school record for career three-point shooting percentage at an incredible 50.2 percent and helped lead the Yellow Jackets to the 2004 WVIAC Conference Championship.

After his collegiate playing days, Beller transitioned seamlessly into coaching. As an assistant coach at West Virginia State University from 2005 to 2008, he helped the program capture two WVIAC Tournament Championships, contribute to 73 victories, and finish the 2006 season ranked No. 22 in the final NCAA Division II national poll.
Beller later returned to Nitro High School, serving as Assistant Coach and JV Head Coach from 2013 to 2018 before joining the Winfield High School staff as an assistant coach from 2018 to 2022. During his time with the Generals, he helped guide the program to a 2021 AAA State Tournament Final Four appearance while continuing to mentor and develop student-athletes.

Since taking over as Head Coach at Winfield Middle School in 2023, Beller has quickly built one of the premier middle school programs in the state. Under his leadership, the Generals have captured back-to-back MVAC Conference Championships while compiling an outstanding 45-9 overall record. His emphasis on fundamentals, discipline, and team-first basketball has laid a strong foundation for the future success of Winfield basketball.
Across his playing and coaching career, Jason Beller has contributed to more than 350 varsity victories, a testament to his consistency, leadership, and lifelong dedication to the sport.

Away from the basketball court, Beller works as a sales representative for a local small business and values nothing more than spending quality time with his family. His commitment to excellence, both professionally and personally, continues to make him a positive role model for the young athletes he coaches.
