The Hammer Award this week goes to #10, Waylon Cushman!

Waylon was a driving force of motivation and support for his teammates this weekend. His selflessness and commitment to those to his left and his right made it possible for the Black Sox to power through adversity. Relentless in picking up each of his brothers. And to complement his leadership he had an OBP of .500 and 2 stolen bases during our DH.

Great work Waylon! Very proud of you!

The Hammer Award this week goes to #8 “JT” Jackson Tabbert!

After our first three games this weekend, Jackson had a batting average of .500, OBP .750, had 6 stolen bases and 4 runs scored! But more than that, Jackson puts his team first and is driving force of constant motivation, support and positivity, when he’s on the field and even more when he’s in the dugout.

Way to go, JT! Proud of you young man!

The Hammer Award is a traveling award given to the Illinois Black Sox player who best exemplifies leadership and performance each week.

The Hammer Award this week goes to #11, Toby Musson! He plays put of Stew-Stras.

Toby had an outstanding performance at the plate this weekend with a batting of .800 and on base percentage of .833! Wow! 😮 To go along with that, he scored 4 runs himself and stole 6 bases! Absolutely fearless on the base path, constantly challenging the defenders. Excellent work #11!

More than his performance, his leadership and selflessness made him stand out. Toby plays multiple positions and is always happy to step in and help his team in the best way he can.

The Hammer Award this week goes to, #25 Camden Grimsley!

Camden started the first game in our DH against the Charleston Knights pitching, faced 13 batters, giving up only 4 hits, striking out 2, walked 2 and came home with the W! Also, he batted .333 on the day for the two games!

Congratulations, Camden!

Hammer is up for grabs again this coming weekend when we take the field in the Swing for Rings!

The Hammer Award goes to #99, Corbin Marquis, from Lovington!

Corbin caught both games, BA .500 on the day, 2 RBI’s, scored a run himself! He hit an absolute rocket late in the last inning, to drive in the winning walk off run, wow! He was a work horse today, fighting through every challenge he was faced with! Proud of this kid!

Black Sox took the field today in a round robin against the Shelbyville River Bandits and the T-Town Sandlot!

1-1 on the day!

Lost a tight game 4-6 against the River Bandits to start the day and finished the day with a walk off win against the Sandlot 9-8!

Very proud of the grit they all showed today! Truly embodied the no quit mentality, constantly refusing to give up when faced with adversity! Amazing to watch!

Let’s hear it for these guys!

2 for 3 today, first at bat was a triple, then a base hit, driving in a run! Loudest one in the dugout, cheering on his teammates, truly a positive force for the team today! Way to go Deuce! Proud of you! Let’s hear it for Arrickson!

Hammer is up for grabs again this coming Saturday as we take the field for a round robin against the Sandlot and River Bandits! Who’s going to step up this weekend?!

11U Black Sox took the field today! Didn’t come home with the W, but still a great performance from the team! Proud of how they played the game today!

What an excellent day for baseball! The 11U Black Sox took the field for the first time this fall, against the Effingham Angels! Had a rough start in our first game, but it all started to come together for us in the second game! 0-2 on the day, but they left it all on the field, didn’t quit and played their hearts out till the last pitch. Way to go Sox!

Just a few stats from the day:

Team batting average - .367 on the day, led by Toby Musson (.750)! 💪🏽

Team RBI’s - 8 on the day, led by Arrickson Goeckner with 4! 💪🏽

One inside the park home run by Camden Grimsley!💪🏽

11 stolen bases today! Led by Jackson Tabbert, with 4 and Luke Haumesser scratching at his heals with 3! 🏃🏾‍♂️💪🏽
