I have been a triathlete for 25 years. I enjoy racing and training and would like to help others discover this sport and reach their potential. I have raced all distances from sprint to the Hawaii Ironman. I also compete in open water swimming, trail runs, and obstacle races. Contact me if interested in a personalized training plan and/or specific training related to triathlons or endurance sports.

Filled my brain with all things Endurance related at the USAT Conference for coaches and race directors. So much good information and speakers. Rowdy Gaines gave a talk and I got to meet Taylor Knibb and her coach, Dan Lorang. Can’t wait to share this information and use it to help my athletes!

Last weekend was my final race of the triathlon season in Wilmington NC. The cutest town and a very well organized race. I did this one 2 years ago and beat my time by 8 minutes. I was 1st in my age group and qualified for Worlds next year in Nice!
It was great to have my daughter, Sarah there and her friend to support me. Best of all was hanging out with the group of guys I have coached for many years before the race and afterwards! Everyone had a great day!

Wishing Carrie Tallent good luck and may the Kona winds be in your favor tomorrow at the Ironman World Championships. Carrie has battled injuries and juggled a busy home and work schedule to make it to the start line. She is pictured here with Mirinda Carfree, who won the race as a professional. May all that good karma rub off on you Carrie! Enjoy the day and we will watch you cross the finish line!

Kudos to Urbano Dickel who was first in his age group at the Tri the Parks sprint triathlon at Lake Lanier this past weekend. Urbano has been racing triathlons for only two years but stays consistent with his training and it pays off!

Throwback Thursday- this was probably my second or third triathlon, it was in Georgia but I don’t remember the exact location. Note the cages for my shoes and in those days, I swam in a race suit and then put shorts on for the bike and run. No Tri suits! I have no idea what bike that is either. The numbering system is still the same!

So proud of these guys who all finished the Gulf Coast Duathlon as it was supposed to be a half Ironman but Mother Nature had other ideas! They biked in wind and rain and then ran a hot half marathon before the race was stopped due to a tornado watch. It takes guts to race when many things are out of your control but you learn something from every race. They raced the race they were given on that day just like all the other athletes. Congratulations!

This is the face of victory! Jenny’s goal was to complete a Half Ironman before she turned 45. She was persistent-originally she was supposed to do Augusta 70.3 but the hurricane put a stop to that so she pivoted and kept up with her training for 2 more months even though she had a very busy schedule with work, family and travel obligations. She was all set to go when the flu hit her one week before the 70.3 Haines City race. She didn’t let that stop her and all those months and years of training paid off as she crossed the finish line! So proud of her and her commitment and consistency. Now enjoy some post season Jenny!

Congratulations to Marcio Portugal (Chico) on becoming an Ironman at the Florida Ironman in Panama City Beach this past weekend. He was very consistent and diligent with his training and the race went according to plan! It does help to have a team behind you to help motivate you and he had great support from his family and friends. Awesome job Chico- parabens!

If you want a fun, competitive sprint tri with great swag, cool awards and beer at the finish line, try the Santa Rosa Island sprint tri. This is the second time I have done this race and it didn’t disappoint with rough surf which required us to switch from the ocean to the bay (no jellyfish there!) and a strong headwind on the bike out to the turnaround so that your speed could go from 17 to 27. Finally a nice flat run to the finish line where I was 7th female overall and senior grand masters champ along with our friend Johnny. His wife Lisa also made the podium in her age group. Thanks to my Sherpa Steve for these photos and for cheering us on out there!
