What a fantastic season!
Coach Bushnell wanted to share his end of season reflection. So, without further ado…
The 2026 season will be remembered as one defined by resilience, leadership, and a relentless
commitment to excellence. Finishing with an overall record of 25-7-1 and placing 2nd in
conference at 12-2, this group consistently competed at a high level and represented Wilmington High School with pride.
One of the defining moments of our season was capturing the Regional Championship, defeating
the team that finished ahead of us in our conference. That win was a testament to our growth, our preparation, and our belief in one another.This team was filled with outstanding individual performances, highlighted by five All-
Conference selections:
• Ryan Kettman
• Zach Ohlund
• Cooper Holman
• Declan Moran
• Brysen Meents
Ryan Kettman etched his name into the record books by breaking the single-season batting
average record with an incredible .586 average. He also tied the single-season hits record with 68
hits, showcasing remarkable consistency and competitiveness at the plate. Zach Ohlund followed closely behind, finishing second in school history for single-season batting average at .529. Their production and leadership set the tone for our lineup all year long. Beyond the numbers, this team will be remembered for its leadership, grit, and 100% effort every
single day. They competed with purpose, prepared with intention, and supported one another through every challenge.
I want to extend a sincere thank you to all of our seniors, and especially to our three captains —
Ryan Kettman, Zach Ohlund, and Dierks Geiss. Their relentless work ethic, situational
awareness, and commitment to being positive role models have left a lasting impact on our
program. They demonstrated what it truly means to be a Wilmington baseball player and paved
the path for the underclassmen by showing what is required to compete and succeed at a high
level. While this senior class will certainly be missed, they have strengthened the foundation of our program. Because of their leadership, the future remains bright. I am excited to see our juniors step forward next season, embrace greater responsibility, and continue building on the success we achieved this year.
