Kaltag is a small village located along the Yukon River and serves as a critical stop on the Iditarod Trail. Historically, Kaltag was an important trading and transportation hub, connecting the Yukon River to the Norton Sound coast via the famous Kaltag Portage.

🐾 Handler Wanted for the 2026/2027 Racing Season 🐾

Location: Willow, Alaska

We're looking for a hardworking, motivated handler to join our sled dog kennel team from October 2026 through April 2027.

This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the Alaskan mushing lifestyle while working with a competitive kennel. There may be opportunities to race depending on experience and performance.

🏠 Lodging Provided
• Fully furnished log cabin
• Electricity and full kitchen
• Toyo stove heat
• Water tank (no running water)
• Outhouse
• Access to shower and laundry facilities
• Monthly stipend included
🐕 Responsibilities Include:
• Feeding and caring for sled dogs
• Cleaning dog yard and kennel areas
• Shoveling snow
• Trail maintenance, grooming, and tree clearing
• Dog bathing, brushing, and general care
• Cleaning and organizing equipment and facilities
• Cutting and preparing meat
• Assisting with training operations as needed
✅ Requirements:
• Prior dog handling experience
• Prior dog driving experience
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods in extreme weather conditions
• Willingness to perform physically demanding work
• Flexible schedule and ability to work non-traditional hours based on training and kennel needs
This position is best suited for someone who is passionate about sled dogs, enjoys hard work, and wants a true hands-on experience in a working racing kennel.

♠️♥️ Meet Puppy #4: Bridge ♦️♣️

Introducing Bridge, the fourth puppy from our Card Game Litter!

The game of Bridge was developed in the early 1900s and became one of the world's most beloved card games. Success in Bridge relies on partnership, trust, communication, and the strong bond between teammates. It's a game built on connection.

We chose the name Bridge for this handsome boy because he is already showing us just how important those connections are. Whether he's curled up beside me or right next to his brother, Euchre, Bridge is happiest when he's close to those he trusts. He seems to be constantly building strong bonds with the people and dogs around him, forming relationships that will undoubtedly make him a valuable teammate someday.

Introducing puppy #3 from the Card Game Litter: Euchre! ♠️♥️♣️♦️

Named after the classic trick-taking card game (popular in the midwest), Euchre is already living up to his name. In the game, success comes from bold plays and confidence—and this little guy has plenty of both.

Euchre was the first puppy to climb out of the whelping box and start exploring the world around him. As he's grown, he's continued to show that same adventurous spirit, becoming the first puppy to confidently "run" down the trail.

We can't wait to see where Euchre's confidence takes him!

Meet Puppy #2: Whist ♠️♥️♣️♦️

Whist gets her name from the classic card game that was wildly popular in the 18th and 19th centuries and eventually evolved into the modern game of Bridge. The name comes from an old English word meaning "quiet" or "silent," reflecting the game's tradition of thoughtful strategy and concentration.

While she's still young, Whist is already showing plenty of personality. She's observant, curious, and seems to take in everything happening around her before making her move. Whether she'll live up to the "quiet strategist" meaning behind her name remains to be seen, but we're excited to watch her grow and discover who she becomes.

She was the first to be able to climb out if the pen despite being the smallest of the litter. She had a strategy and it worked! Haha

Meet Uno! She is one of the 4 pups. She is the only one I have assigned a name to so far! I picked Uno for her as she tends to be the one always trotting off on her own.
