Ed Potokar – 3x Ohio state champion and 2x All-American for the Buckeyes.
Ed Potokar of Richmond Heights carved his name into wrestling history as a high school powerhouse and a record-setting Buckeye.
He was a 3x state champion from 1976-1979, leading Richmond Heights to its first team state title in 1979 after three straight runner-up finishes.
At Ohio State, Potokar placed 8th at the NCAA tournament at 177 pounds as a junior.
However, it was during his senior year that Ed left his mark on Buckeye wrestling.
That year, he recorded 50 wins, setting a school record, and advanced to the NCAA semifinals, where he battled Oklahoma legend Mark Schultz.
Potokar pushed the match to overtime but ultimately dropped to the consolations and finished 3rd.
Ed ended his career as the winningest Buckeye in school history with 151 victories.
