Today marks a decade since the tragic loss of George Kavanaugh, who was fatally struck in a hit-and-run outside the Lincoln Hose Company Firehouse in Somerville, NJ. Ten years have passed, and still, there are no answers.
George was more than a victim—he was a dedicated firefighter, a pillar of our community, a beloved family member, and a friend to so many. His life was one of service and kindness, and he deserved better than to have his story end this way.
His wife, Anita, never stopped seeking justice for him. Until the day she passed, she held onto hope that the person responsible would be found. Now, we carry that hope forward. Someone out there knows what happened on March 6, 2015. Someone has the missing piece that could finally bring closure to his loved ones.
If you have any information—no matter how small—please come forward. It’s never too late to do the right thing.
This page will always serve as a memorial to George, a place to honor his life and legacy. But we will also continue to seek the truth, in the hope that one day, the person responsible will be held accountable.
The family requests anyone with information to please call Mr. Benvenisti at 201-907-5000 to ensure your info is reviewed and can make an impact.
