Be where you are • For the ones who need this reminder today 🤍 words from my third book ‘You Were Always Growing’

You don’t always have to know what comes next in your journey. Sometimes you just need to be where you are, and know that it’s okay to be there.

There is so much beauty in accepting yourself, right here, in this moment.

No matter what you are working towards, I hope you can always remember that finding peace in the present moment is just as important as the path ahead.

There’s a difference between deciding what someone needs and taking the time to understand what they’re experiencing.

You can see someone struggling and have plenty of ideas about what they should do differently.

But have you asked them?

Have you listened without immediately correcting?
Have you gotten curious about how they got here?
Have you asked what kind of support would actually help?

Support isn’t always doing something for someone.

Sometimes it starts with knowing them well enough to understand what they need.

Sometimes support can quietly become transactional.

“I’ll support you—but only in the way I think you should be supported.”

“I’ll help—but only if you make the choice I believe is best.”

“I care—but my care comes with conditions.”

Meaningful support doesn’t require us to agree with every decision someone makes. It does require us to recognize that their life still belongs to them.

Sometimes the most loving thing we can offer isn’t control, correction, or a solution.

It’s curiosity. Conversation. Respect. And the willingness to ask, “What would actually feel supportive to you?”

One of the hardest parts of healing is admitting that sometimes we keep participating in the very things that are hurting us. 🩷

Not because we want to suffer, but because we keep hoping things will change. We overlook the warning signs, excuse what hurts, and stay longer than we should because letting go feels just as painful.

But here’s something worth remembering: You can acknowledge what happened to you without blaming yourself, and still take responsibility for what happens next.

Before you respond, ask yourself:

What am I feeling right now?

What part of this situation actually hurt me?

Am I responding to what happened—or to everything this moment represents?

And what do I want to communicate once the intensity settles?

Your first reaction can tell you something important without having to become your final response.

Sometimes we look back and wonder why we didn’t set the boundary sooner, speak up earlier, or make a change we knew we needed.

But maybe you weren’t ready then.

Maybe you needed more clarity, more experience, or one more moment that showed you something couldn’t continue as it was.

Growth isn’t always recognizing the right decision immediately.

Sometimes it’s finally trusting yourself enough to make it.

I don’t need anymore character development this year

A change of plans can still lead to something beautiful. Keep your heart open. 🤍
