What an unforgettable evening at Lakeland Ski Team Banquet last night as we celebrated the Lakeland Ski Team's remarkable 2026 season!
From thrilling victories on the slopes to heartfelt recognitions, it was a night to honor the dedication and achievements of our athletes, coaches, and supporters.
The girls' team shone brightly, securing back-to-back Lakes Valley Conference championships with a commanding performance. They advanced to the SEMSL Championships by finishing 3rd in the Division at SEMSL Championships where they finished sixth overall among 12 schools with 201.5 points. At the Division 1 Region 2 Championships, they placed fourth, coming within just three points of a state finals berth—a testament to their depth and resilience.
The boys' team demonstrated steady growth and determination, finishing seventh in the SEMSL Division Championships and tenth in the Division 1 Region 2 Finals with 299 points. Highlights included a strong fifth-place standing after slalom in regionals, showcasing their ability to compete against a stacked field of 13 teams.
Individual accomplishments were equally impressive. Senior Captain Juliana Henry capped her four-year career with 541 victories this season alone (301 in giant slalom, 240 in slalom), contributing to her career total of 2,631 wins and earning her the title Queen of the Slopes and and every Queen needs their "Crown Jules". She swept first place in both events at the LVC championships and delivered consistent top performances throughout.
Junior Tori Jamieson followed closely with 414 victories, securing podium finishes in multiple events.
On the boys' side, Junior Max Heger qualified for the MHSAA Division 1 State Finals with an 11th-place slalom finish at regionals, while Sophomore Brock Boyd earned a SEMSL qualifier spot with strong showings in both disciplines.
We bid a fond farewell to our graduating seniors: Juliana Henry, whose leadership and academic excellence (top 10 in the class of 2026) will be sorely missed, and Boys' Captain Joe Howie, who contributed 240 victories while excelling as a musician, actor, and singer—honored with the "Howie Wowie" award for his performative spirit.
A special moment was recognizing Assistant Coach Dan Wagner upon his retirement after nearly a decade of invaluable service. His efforts in organizing the annual Ski Training Weekend, providing insights, and fostering team bonding have been instrumental to our success, embodying "the Wagner Way." We extend our deepest gratitude to Dan and his wife Maureen for their unwavering support.
