Lakeland Girls Ski Team Update – Alpine Valley Slalom (January 13, 2026)

Strong split result for the Lakeland girls in tonight’s trimeet, with a commanding victory over Hartland and a competitive performance against a formidable Marian squad that we will likely see again in the division finals.

The team raced the same two runs, with placements scored separately in each dual matchup.

- Against Hartland: Lakeland 10 – Hartland 32
- Against Marian: Lakeland 24 – Marian 12

The girls dominated the Hartland matchup, sweeping the top four scoring positions:
Senior Juliana Henry took 1st, junior Tori Jamieson earned 2nd, junior Brighton Leder secured 3rd, and junior Breslin Scott claimed 4th. Junior Gwen Mazzara added excellent depth with 5th place.

In the matchup against Marian, Lakeland pushed a very strong program throughout. Juliana led with 3rd-place points, followed by Tori in 6th-place points, Brighton in 7th-place points, and Breslin in 8th-place points. Gwen contributed a solid 9th-place points, with junior Rachel Rossetti gaining valuable experience deeper in the field.

Special recognition to freshman Hannah Scott and sophomore Addison Rozema, who raced their first varsity slalom. Both posted solid first runs and gained important experience, despite second-run challenges that prevented finishes.

Great energy and teamwork on a tough course tonight. The decisive win over Hartland and the close battle with Marian highlight real progress and competitiveness.

Proud of this group—keep charging, ladies! ⛷️💙

Lakeland Boys Ski Team Update – Alpine Valley Slalom (January 13, 2026)

Tough but encouraging night for the Lakeland boys in a trimeet against two very strong programs: Brother Rice and Hartland.

The team competed in two close dual races using the same runs and times, with placements calculated separately against each opponent.

- Against Brother Rice: Lakeland 22 – Brother Rice 15
- Against Hartland: Lakeland 22 – Hartland 16

Two hard-fought losses, but the margins were narrow and the racing was sharp.

Junior Max Heger had the breakout performance of the season so far, bouncing back strongly from last week. He took the overall win in the Hartland dual (1st place, 49.37 seconds) and earned a solid 3rd in the Brother Rice dual—consistently the fastest racer outside of Rice’s top two.

Senior captain Joe Howie skied with great consistency, posting top-5 finishes in both duals (5th vs. Hartland, 4th vs. Rice). Sophomores Brock Boyd and Logan Henck delivered reliable scoring runs, with Brock taking 6th in both matchups and Logan finishing 10th/9th. Freshman Brian Abercrombie completed both races cleanly, gaining valuable experience with 12th and 10th-place finishes.

The boys showed real competitiveness against two of the top teams in the league. Small margins decided both duals, and the depth and effort were clear. Proud of the way they attacked the course and supported each other.

Shout out to Kyle Bialo who has come a looong way in a short period of time for his efforts.

Onward to the next one—keep building, Eagles! 💪⛷️

Lakeland Girls Ski Team opened the 2026 season with strong performances at Alpine Valley on January 7, securing decisive victories over both Novi and Walled Lake United in the Week 1 Giant Slalom.

Senior Captain Juliana Henry led the team with authority, posting the fastest combined time of the evening (41.59) and claiming first overall in both matchups. She was supported by Gwen Mazzara in second (44.90), Brighton Leder with consistent top-5 results, and Hannah Scott contributing solid scoring runs. Rachel Rossetti (52.42) and McKenzie Gallmore (59.16) delivered clean, two-run finishes that strengthened the team’s depth, while Tori Jamieson and Breslin Scott showcased significant speed on their first runs—second- and third-fastest in the field, respectively—despite second-run DNFs.

Special recognition to our Forerunner, Addison Rozma, who set the pace and provided valuable course insight for the squad.

Congratulations to Senior Captain Juliana Henry and the entire girls’ team on an outstanding start to the season.

Lakeland Boys Ski Team competed with determination at Alpine Valley on January 7, earning competitive second-place finishes against Novi and Walled Lake United in the Week 1 Giant Slalom.

Senior Captain Joe Howie anchored the effort with consistent top finishes, joined by Brock Boyd’s strong showings (second overall against Novi and sixth in the combined field against WLU), as well as reliable performances from Logan Henck and Brian Abercrombie. Max Heger demonstrated excellent speed with the fastest first run against Novi and third-fastest against WLU before a second-run DNF, while Matthew Ciancio Jr. recovered effectively on his second runs following initial challenges.

Gratitude to our Forerunner, Kyle Bialo, for leading the way and supplying critical course information to the team.

Well done to Senior Captain Joe Howie and the entire boys’ team for a promising and resilient opening meet.

We’re back! Nice work Alpine Valley getting the place looking pretty good on the first day.

Training on the hill = Fantastic² + Epic Views
