The ladies' team was founded in 2022 when a group of ladies decided to renew their careers.

Huge congratulations to Jamie Mudge, Beth Baumrucker, and Danielle Johnson on bringing home another championship!

On the heels of a dominant 2025-2026 Championship season with the Wheeling Lightningbirds, these three incredible players kept the momentum rolling right into the summer.

They traded their Birds jerseys for the RMU Women's Draft League, dominated the ice, and secured the top spot once again.

Way to skate hard and keep the winning streak alive, ladies!

Before our very first season as the Wheeling Lightningbirds, we had a chat with Visit Wheeling about what we were trying to do.

Bringing women’s hockey to Wheeling and growing girls hockey has been our mission from the start.

We’re so grateful that Visit Wheeling found value in backing the Birds and bringing our league-mates from around Maryland and Pennsylvania to show off our hometown!

I think it goes without saying that WesBanco Arena is everyone’s favorite ice!

Champions!!!! … again. 😉

The Wheeling Lightningbirds had a great time supporting the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley at Celebrity Scoopers at Kirke’s Ice Cream in St. Clairsville.

It was nice to see our friends from the Wheeling Nailers. We were excited to take home the Golden Scoop award for getting the most tips!
