🏈Wheeler football is moving forward with skills, drills, and fundamentals. Registration is open for all Wheeler County Youth entering grades 1st through 6th. Program groups: Grades 1 and 2; Grades 3 through 6th.

The program will teach football fundamentals, proper techniques, teamwork, discipline, safety, respect, and integrity. This will be a rebuilding year focused on helping our youth learn the game, build strong habits, and have fun. We hope to have enough participation to offer flag football.

Cost: $25 per participant

Practices: Monday & Tuesday in the month of September, starting September 7th. Practice will be held from 6:30pm - 7:30pm on the practice filed west of the Wheeler Historical Museum.

🏈Wheeler football is moving forward with skills, drills, and fundamentals. Thank you to every family who completed the Wheeler Sports football interest survey. After reviewing the results, we determined that we do not have enough players to safely form tackle teams for travel and competition in the 100th Meridian League this season. Players who still want to play tackle football should contact: S***t Kirkland-moon in Shamrock. Please contact S***t directly for information about team availability, eligibility, fees, and registration.

🏈Wheeler Sports is still moving forward with a local football opportunity. Registration will open for a Skills & Drills Program for all Wheeler County Youth entering grades 1st through 6th. Program groups: Grades 1 and 2; Grades 3 through 6

The program will teach football fundamentals, proper techniques, teamwork, discipline, safety, respect, and integrity. This will be a rebuilding year focused on helping our youth learn the game, build strong habits, and have fun. We hope to have enough participation to offer flag football. We are also looking into whether nearby communities have flag football teams that could play games without requiring extensive travel outside Wheeler County. Those details are still being developed, and games are not guaranteed.

ℹ️ Practice days, times, location, equipment information, and any possible flag football schedule will be announced after registration closes.

🙌 Volunteers needed: We need adults who believe in creating a positive, safe, and fun experience for Wheeler County youth. Volunteer/Future Volunteer opportunities include coaching, team communications, equipment assistance, field setup, concessions, fundraising, safety support, photography, social media, and game-day help, if games are scheduled.

Thank you to every family who completed our football interest survey. After reviewing the results at our Wheeler Sports Board meeting, we did not receive enough interest to safely form tackle football teams for travel and competition in the 100th Meridian League this season.

Players who still want to participate in tackle football should contact: S***t Kirkland-moon with Shamrock

Please contact S***t directly for information about available teams, eligibility, registration, fees, and deadlines.

Although Wheeler will not field traveling tackle teams this season, we are not giving up on football. Wheeler Sports is moving forward with a local skills and drills program for Wheeler County Youth entering grades 1st through 6th.

More information will be posted shortly. Thank you for completing the survey and helping us determine the safest and most responsible path forward.

The Wheeler Sports Board has approved moving forward with the addition of football. We now need to determine whether there is enough interest to form a team for the 2026 season.

✅ If we have enough eligible players, Wheeler Sports will move forward with the remaining steps needed to organize a team.
➡️ If we do not have enough players, families may consider contacting Shamrock. Its stated signup deadline is Monday, July 27, 2026. Please confirm availability and registration requirements directly with Shamrock.

🌱 Wheeler Sports may also offer a skills-and-drills development program as we teach football fundamentals and work toward building a sustainable program for 2027.
