Hi everyone!

We’ve gotten a lot of new followers in the last week and that is so humbling! Thank you for joining in this crazy journey.

Spirit Dream Racing was a childhood dream of Jana’s. In 2020, she was able to start making that dream a reality and in 2021 Ryan joined her when he got a team of his own.

Since then we have raced in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Michigan and Wisconsin.

We call the Upper Peninsula of Michigan home and enjoy all the seasons with the dogs.

Ryan’s team is Alaskan Huskies and his focus is on racing the local UP races including The UP200, Midnight Run, and Jack Pine 30 - Midnight Run each year.

Jana focuses on rescues. Her team is made up of Malamute and malamute crosses, and she works with shelters, rescues and breeders across the country to help Malamute and malamute mixes that need jobs learn to be sled dogs and then move onto jobs with a non profit partner.

We also have a couple dogs that will stay with us permanently because of their past lives and are mostly retired because of their age/issues. They are just as loved and cherished as all the others.

Thank you for supporting us, the dogs, and the journey!

Well… that escalated quickly.

When we launched the Fill the Pallet challenge, we weren’t sure what to expect.

Less than two weeks in to summer and you’ve already sponsored 12 bags of food.

That’s 420 pounds of dog food.
That’s 48 feedings for 29 dogs.
That’s a whole lot of wagging tails.

Thank you for believing in these dogs and the work they do.

What’s your funny or slightly crazy Dryland story?

Ryan raced with a four wheeled cart that required you to sit. One hand steering both front wheels and one hand operating the brake. He crashed during the race and still managed to place.

This was about the time Jana began to wonder if Finn might be too big for a sled dog team, she had to make booties 1” wider and 2” longer than the ones for the rest of the dogs.

Summer time = projects!

We are going to doing a major overhaul to the barn this summer. We’ve been using rubber mats over the sandy floor for a few years without issue…until this past winter when a couple of the Alaskans decided to start digging.

Using reclaimed lumber, we are adding decks underneath each kennel to prevent digging. This should also help with cleaning!

Rags approves, but was quick to remind us she demands thick straw and some shavings would also be nice.

What are some upgrades you’re doing to your dog areas this summer?
