The City of Westlake is officially unveiling the new Recreation Center Park Athletic Fields and Playground this weekend! Join us as we celebrate the completion of this state-of-the-art complex with a day full of excitement for the whole family.

🎉 Grand Opening Event Details
• When: Saturday, May 16
• Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony: 12:00 p.m.
• Location: Recreation Center Park, 28955 Hilliard Blvd, Westlake, OH 44145

🎈 Family Fun & Activities
• Music & Entertainment: Beats provided by DJ ATrain.
• Inflatables: Football and soccer-themed inflatables from Ohio Mobile Gaming.
• Food & Drinks: Hot dogs from Rocheck Concessions, plus snacks and refreshments provided by the Scouts.
• Skills & Drills: Watch or participate as Westlake Youth Sports Organizations host athletic sessions immediately following the ceremony.

🏗️ What’s New at the Park?
• The Playground: Features a multi-level climbing tower, twin tube slides, inclusive play elements, and shaded seating areas.
• The Fields: High-performance surfaces including DoublePlay Natural ballfields and a multi-purpose field with CoolPlay technology to reduce surface temperatures by up to 35 degrees.
• Lighting: New Musco LED sports lighting for enhanced visibility and playability.

These fields will serve as a hub for Westlake Youth Soccer, Football, Softball, Baseball, and more. We can’t wait to see you there!

Ready to cast a line? The Westlake Recreation Department and Westlake Kiwanis are teaming up for a morning of outdoor fun at our annual Fishing Derby! 🎣

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or picking up a rod for the first time, this is a perfect event for the whole family to enjoy the local waters and maybe even take home a prize.

📋 Important Rules & Info
• Gear: Please bring your own fishing equipment.
• Bait: Provided while supplies last!
• Licensing: A valid Ohio Fishing License is required for participants.
• Catch Limits: 5 Bass limit (all Bass under 13" must be released) and 6 Catfish limit (only 1 Catfish over 28").

Mark Price Camps are designed for players with some basketball experience who are ready to level up their game under the guidance of one of the best shooters in NBA history, Mark Price. Building on core fundamentals, these camps introduce and reinforce foundational skills in a true gameplay environment, helping athletes better understand spacing, timing, and decision-making on the court. Campers deepen their knowledge of the rules, playing positions, and both offensive and defensive concepts while applying them in live drills and scrimmages.

In observance of the Easter holiday, the Westlake Recreation Center will be closed tomorrow Sunday, April 5th.
We will reopen Monday, April 6th at 5am.

The City of Westlake is excited to announce the 2026 Recreation Center Natatorium (Indoor Pool) Improvement Project — a significant renovation as the Recreation Center approaches its 28th anniversary.

What's being upgraded:

🔹 Pool deck resurfacing & new drain covers
🔹 Fresh interior painting of walls, ceiling & ductwork
🔹 New overhead lighting
🔹 Humidity corrections & repair of rusted metal at the slide tower
🔹 New diving board & starting blocks
🔹 Replacement of translucent panels and skylights at the slide tower
🔹 Improvements to Men's & Women's locker rooms

These renovations will deliver a refreshed look, improved functionality, and important safety enhancements for all visitors.

Timeline:

🔨 Construction begins: June 2026
✅ Expected completion: Approximately three months

What about swimming during construction? The city is working on an agreement with the City of Fairview Park to provide Westlake Rec Center members access to the new indoor pool at the Gemini Center. Members can also purchase a separate pass for the Westlake Aquatic Center outdoor facility — pass sales begin in March 2026.
