In addition to individual WBCA Academic All-State honors, our girls also finished #1 in Division 3 in the state for team GPA with a 3.970!

ACADEMIC ALL-STATE
This requires that nominated athletes be varsity players from any grade level and hold a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale). These players will receive a WBCA certificate from their school.

Westby Girls Basketball put up 34 points in a hard fought game Friday night to earn our donation of $5 per point which will be matched by American Family for a total of $340 for the Chaseburg Area Cancer Walk! 💗A Recap from Friday Night 💗

“Proud” and “Honored” are the two words that have continued to sit with our program all weekend.

For the past month, our girls basketball program has been working toward our Fight Cancer In All Colors Night. What happened Friday was bigger than a game.

The way our community came together alongside Luther High School was extraordinary. Because of the generosity, time, and heart poured into this event, we were able to raise and donate $7,423.01 to the Chaseburg Area Cancer Walk. These dollars will support cancer research and, just as importantly, help local families walking through incredibly difficult battles.
That impact belongs to so many people.

We ask these young women multiple times a week to step between the lines, block out the outside world for 36 minutes, and give everything they have to each other and this program. Friday was no different. They competed with toughness and heart, while being part of something that reached far beyond the scoreboard.

Even after a hard-fought loss, they stayed to thank community members, connect with families, and represent what this program truly stands for.

That’s what makes Westby special.

There truly is no place like Westby Area High School, and our girls continue to prove that leadership, gratitude, and compassion matter more than any final score.

Last night was about more than a scoreboard.
It was about something bigger than basketball.

Our students from Luther High School joined together with Westby High School for a powerful reminder that sports are meant to serve something greater than ourselves.

“More Than a Game” isn’t just a slogan. It’s a mindset. It’s the understanding that while we compete fiercely between the lines, we stand united beyond them — especially when it comes to supporting cancer research and the families who are walking through that fight right now.

Cancer has touched so many of our lives. Teammates. Parents. Grandparents. Coaches. Friends. It doesn’t care what color jersey you wear. And last night, neither did we.

Players who battle each other for rebounds stood shoulder to shoulder for a cause. Fans who cheer passionately for different teams gave generously for the same mission. Rivalry paused. Community stepped forward.

That’s what sportsmanship truly looks like.

It’s young men and women learning that character matters more than points.
It’s communities realizing that unity is stronger than competition.
It’s students discovering that their platform can bring hope to someone who desperately needs it.

The game was exciting. The atmosphere was electric.
But the impact? That’s what will last.

Thank you to Westby for partnering with us. Thank you to our students who represented Luther with heart and integrity. And thank you to everyone who gave, prayed, and supported cancer research through this special night.

Because at the end of the day, it’s more than a game.

It’s about people. It’s about compassion. It’s about standing together for something bigger than ourselves.
