Michael Beard of Lehigh is the EIWA Wrestler of the Week after an impressive win over returning NCAA Champion Max Dean.

Beard came on strong during the third period to secure an 11-9 victory over Dean at 197 pounds in the dual meet vs. Penn State.

Congratulations to the Co-EIWA Wrestlers of the Week, of and of

Nolan capped off a great weekend with wins over two ranked opponents: a 5-4 upset over No. 10 Isaiah Salazar of Minnesota and 3-1 decision against No. 29 DJ Parker of North Dakota State.

Wolak came from behind to earn an 8-6 decision over No. 6 Ethan Smith of Ohio State at 174 pounds. He led late against Michigan before the Wolverine came back to win in a breakout weekend.

The EIWA Wrestler of the Week is Darren Miller of

Miller upset No. 10 Carter Young in Saturday's dual meet action vs. Oklahoma State. Young was runner-up in the recent U23 USA World Team trials and is a highly regarded wrestler for the 2022-23 NCAA wrestling season.

Miller lost to Young 8-3 in a dual in Stillwater last season, but this time he came out as the aggressor and earned a takedown just 15 seconds into the bout.

Army West Point freshman Ethan Berginc has been named the EIWA Wrestler of the Week following a 3-0 performance at the Black Knight Scramble.

His wins included a 3-1 sudden victory over No. 7 Brandon Kaylor, a 2022 All-American for Oregon State.

"It’s been a lot of fun watching Ethan train and develop and happy for him to experience a big-time win on his first day of college wrestling. He is a true believer and an incredibly competitive young man. We are excited to continue to watch him develop." - Army West Point head coach Kevin Ward
