It was a great Saturday of racing at Purdue University! Two of Team 204 Racing karts made it into the main feature of 33 karts for the 69th running of the Purdue Grand Prix!
In heat race #3, Kart #38 Jonah Dyer fell short of making the field but showed great speed and effort all month.
Kart #23, Luke Sanger put on quite a show of speed in his heat race, winning his feature by four and a half seconds in heat race #2. Luke carried that momentum into the feature. He piloted his kart from the 29th starting position all the way to P9 before his chain broke. In the end he settled into the 12 spot. What a race day for Luke!
Andrew’s 51 Kart started in P11 and quickly started to move forward! The racing was tight and the karts were not shy with contact in the opening laps of the race. Andrew quickly took a spot in the top five. However, some contact was made with another kart on Andrew’s right front. The racing continued and by just after mid-race, teams started making their pit stops. 204 Racing did a great job servicing the kart and got him back on the track.
As racing continued, Andrew soon found his way into third place!
Around lap 130 of 160, Andrew’s lap times began to increase and kart 51 lost some positions. Andrew brought his kart back into the pits as his right front tire was worn down to the cords, likely from the earlier contact.
Team 204 Racing replaced the tire and got him going and he joined the race again in 9th place. Andrew was able to gain some positions and finish in sixth place!
What a great race! Congratulations to Carson Bowers on an impressive win.
Big thanks to Team 204 Racing! All the effort by these students was great to witness all month long! Many long nights wrenching created some great friendships this month!
