A huge thank you to our amazing WCWAA Baseball family for donating more than 200 items, along with several generous cash donations, to Loaves & Fishes of Union County this past weekend! ❤️⚾️

Loaves & Fishes is a volunteer-based community food pantry that provides food, free of charge, to local families facing difficult times. Volunteers shared with us that their pantry shelves were nearly empty, making your generous donations especially needed and appreciated.

Thank you for showing up in such a big way and helping us support our neighbors right here in our own community. We are so grateful to everyone who contributed! ❤️

The Weddington 11U Gophers participated in their first Perfect Game tournament over the weekend.

On Sunday, the Gophers arrived to the park at 8am, and by the time 6pm rolled around they had finished as tournament runner-up!

They played three games over the course of the day, rallying in the first two games to reach the championship. This included an 11-9 over the Carolina Clash, a travel team that had beaten the Gophers the previous day in pool play.

The coaches and parents are so proud of the boys for demonstrating mental and physical toughness, playing in five games over two days. Most importantly, opposing coaches and parents praised the character displayed by these boys throughout the course of the weekend.

This team began as a developmental team a few years ago comprised of boys simply looking for some extra work to improve their skills. It has evolved into a talented group of young men that can compete in a two-day PG tournament with anybody.

Congrats to Abel Houser, Ben Allen, Parker Robarge, Cam Schmidt, Will Speight, Drew Curry, Grayson Dumas, Parker McLendon, Christian Lopez, Grant Cox and Beckett Schick on a fantastic weekend of baseball, and for representing Weddington the right way.

Go Gophers !!
