Well said Savannah! πŸ‘ŠπŸΎ

This clip is from my first week with Frank. Footage you haven't seen yet, but will be helpful to those of you who are working on spins. I'm working on a specific exercise leading into the spin: walking him forward, picking up on his face, getting him soft and confident, then dropping into the spin and walking back out. No speed, no pressure. Just building desire for the maneuver.
The idea is if I can get Frank soft and supple walking into the spin, I'm not fighting him when we're actually in it. I'm playing a little reverse psychology here too, spending more time outside the spin than inside it so he starts wanting to go there on his own.
If you've been wondering what Frank has been up to, stay tuned - next week I'm dropping a new video showing Frank's progress and how far he has come since this first week.

Coffee with Matt - this week we're talking bits and bridles.
I get asked all the time about what bits I'm using and why, and the honest answer is there's no set order, no magic formula. It all comes down to whatever tool gets that horse to understand what I want fastest, where I can get to the release the soonest. That's it.
If there's one thing you take away from this video, let it be that a harsh bit in light hands beats a bitless bridle with heavy hands every single day of the week. It's never about the equipment, it's always about your hands.
πŸ”’ Speaking of transitions - if you've been wondering exactly how I handle moving a young horse from the hackamore to the snaffle, I just posted a full breakdown on the Gold Medal Formula this week. Step by step, what to do on day one, what to avoid, and why the curb chain matters more than the mouthpiece. Link below to check it out.
And yes - I also sign off on buying as many bridles as you want. Tell your spouse I said so. πŸ˜‚

Tip of the Week 🐴 β€” What to do when you leave the arena and you're not happy with your score.
We've all been there. You hear the number called and you're frustrated, confused, maybe a little mad. Here's what to do: go get your score sheets, pull your video, and sit down and watch it.
Then find two judges to watch it with you. One that knows you and one that doesn't. Let them tell you honestly why you scored what you scored on each maneuver. That's where the real learning happens.
πŸ”” And heads up, I'm posting a full run breakdown video on my YouTube channel this week where I'll pull up a score sheet and walk you through exactly what the judges are looking for.

I want you to meet Adan.
His parents work at the ranch. For months I watched him come down and watch us ride with his cowboy hat on, boots on, and eyes wide. One day I just asked him if he wanted to ride. He said yes.
That's all it took.
I'm issuing a challenge to every one of you who has horses in your life. Find that person who's been watching from the fence. Maybe it's a kid. Maybe it's an adult who's always been curious but never had access. Give them your time. Let them groom your horse. Let them sit in the saddle. Just say yes.
You know what horses have done for your life. Now pass it on.
Adan has been on a horse 11 times. Watch what he can do. 🀠
I want to see your videos and your photos this week. Get somebody out to your barn and show them what this life is about. Tag me and use
Let's see how many people we can get into horses.

New video just dropped on the Gold Medal Formula. 🐴
I'm working with Lil Bit - a 2 year old stud with 5 months of hackamore training, and walking you through exactly how I handle the transition to the snaffle. What to do, what to avoid, and why most people are thinking about it all wrong.
This is the kind of detail that makes or breaks a young horse's future in the bridle. Don't miss it.

Hot take: there's no such thing as an underrated bloodline. 🐴πŸ”₯
I see too many people turn their nose up at a pedigree that doesn't check every box. But those great mares? They all came from somewhere. Give every horse an equal chance to step up. I've seen the strangest bred horses that can do the job. πŸ’―
