This was never just about lifting weights.
Pretty damn cool seeing the story behind Weatherford Barbell Club featured by VoyageDallas.
The road here wasn't exactly a straight line.
A career in the Navy.
A beat-up body.
Being told what I shouldn't be able to do anymore.
Rebuilding anyway.
Competing at the highest level.
And somewhere along the way realizing that everything I had learned—the discipline, the problem solving, the failures, the comebacks—could be used to help other people become stronger too.
That's really what Weatherford Barbell Club became.
Not a place reserved for elite powerlifters.
A place where a kid learning to compete, a high school athlete trying to get better, a parent trying to stay capable, a complete beginner, and a world-level lifter can all train under the same basic philosophy:
Meet people where they are.
Teach them how to move.
Make them stronger.
Keep moving forward.
The weights are just the tool.
The real goal has always been building stronger, more capable people.
Huge thank you to VoyageDallas for giving me the opportunity to tell a little more of that story.
Give it a read. 👇
