This was never just about lifting weights.

Pretty damn cool seeing the story behind Weatherford Barbell Club featured by VoyageDallas.

The road here wasn't exactly a straight line.

A career in the Navy.
A beat-up body.
Being told what I shouldn't be able to do anymore.
Rebuilding anyway.
Competing at the highest level.
And somewhere along the way realizing that everything I had learned—the discipline, the problem solving, the failures, the comebacks—could be used to help other people become stronger too.

That's really what Weatherford Barbell Club became.

Not a place reserved for elite powerlifters.

A place where a kid learning to compete, a high school athlete trying to get better, a parent trying to stay capable, a complete beginner, and a world-level lifter can all train under the same basic philosophy:

Meet people where they are.
Teach them how to move.
Make them stronger.
Keep moving forward.

The weights are just the tool.

The real goal has always been building stronger, more capable people.

Huge thank you to VoyageDallas for giving me the opportunity to tell a little more of that story.

Give it a read. 👇

Today we’d like to introduce you to Len Nuanez. Hi Len, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.Absolutely. My story isn’t about overnight success — it’s about pain, discipline, and the decision to keep showing up when it would.....

Last year at Texas State, 135 pounds was his max.
A couple weeks ago, Micah pulled 165 in training.

And we still have four weeks to go.

That’s what makes this one fun.

He’s not just getting stronger. His technique is better. His confidence is growing. He’s learning how to attack the weight instead of wondering whether he can lift it.

Last year, 135 was the ceiling.

This year, 165 is already in the books — and we haven’t even made it to meet day yet.

That’s 30 pounds of progress with another month of work still sitting in front of us.

I have a feeling we haven’t seen his best pull yet.

Cannot wait to watch this kid step back onto that Texas State platform and find out what he’s really capable of.

135 → 165 → ???

Four more weeks.

Let’s go, Micah. 💪

Today we’d like to introduce you to Len Nuanez. Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?I didn’t take the typical path into strength and performance coaching—and that’s exactly what...

505 on the bar today.
5 was the plan.
Form started to break—so I shut it down at 3.
Not because I couldn’t fight for it…
Because I’m not here to train bad reps.
There’s a difference between pushing your limits and ignoring the signal.
So we pivoted:
Back-down sets.
Dialed in the issue.
Cleaned up the ex*****on.
That’s how you actually build strength.
Here’s the truth—
failure is part of this process.
If you’re not getting close to that edge…
you don’t really know where you stand.
And if you don’t know where you stand,
you can’t build what’s next.
You only truly fail if you don’t learn from the setback.
There’s always something to take away.
There’s always something to improve.
That’s where I focus—and that’s what I teach.
Today wasn’t about forcing 5.
It was about earning the next 5.

1% Better. Every day.

If you see me dancing in the gym, you're fixing to see some weight moving! 550 # pull to finish out my SBD day.
2 weeks out from a meet I like to challenge myself and see where I'm at. 1,530 # total for the day with plenty left in the tank.

What does it take to step up? 💪

Not just muscle. Not just hype. It’s showing up—again and again—until something clicks. Stockton walked in with questions. Now he’s racking up PRs and prepping for regionals. That’s what happens when you trust the process, not the noise.

Powerlifting isn’t just for the “naturally strong.” It’s for anyone ready to put in the work. High school athletes, first-timers, parents, tactical pros—this is where you learn, grind, and break through. Every rep counts. Every mistake is a lesson. Every lifter starts somewhere.

If you’re tired of random workouts and want to see real, measurable progress, you’re in the right place. We coach with purpose, not gimmicks. Every athlete gets a plan built for them, not a copy-paste routine. Our gym is a community—no egos, no shortcuts, just results.

Ready to see what you’re capable of? DM to see if you’re a fit. Spots are limited, but if you’re serious, we’ll find a way.
