Grizzlies and Machine tie in 11 innings

Jack Mckenzie hit two home runs and drove in three as the Waynesville Grizzlies batted to a 5-5 tie against a very strong Machine team.

Both teams were solid on the mound. For the Grizzlies, Logan Fisher struck out 13 batters on the day and Chris Mutter worked 4 scoreless innings striking out 8.

After the Machine retook the lead, Mckenzie homered to left field in the 8th to tie it up and that would conclude the scoring from either team.

Waynesville Grizzlies accumulated 17 hits in the game. Fisher led Waynesville with four hits in five at bats. In addition to Fisher and McKenzie, Adam Luersman, Nathan Teller, and Chris Mutter each collected multiple hits for the Grizzlies as well.

Waynesville Grizzlies Continue Their Winning Ways, Defeat Wild Boars 12-2 in Eight Innings

The Waynesville Grizzlies were tested on Sunday by a determined Wild Boars squad that battled the Grizzlies into the eighth inning, becoming the first team all season to push Waynesville beyond seven innings. The Boars proved to be a tough matchup and kept the game competitive deep into the afternoon before the Grizzlies erupted late.

Leading the charge was Logan Fisher, who delivered another dominant pitching performance. Fisher struck out 13 batters over six outstanding innings while allowing just one hit and one unearned run without issuing a walk. He was equally impressive at the plate, collecting three hits, including a towering two-run home run in the eighth inning that helped put the game away.

The Grizzlies showed patience and discipline throughout the lineup, drawing seven walks and piling up 12 hits. Garrett Leicht had a big day as he and Fisher each recorded three-hit performances, while Johnny Adkins drove in three runs and delivered a key RBI double during Waynesville’s decisive five-run eighth inning. Adam Luersman added an RBI single, and Bryce Heller drove in a run as the offense broke the game open late.

Waynesville also put pressure on the defense all day with aggressive baserunning, swiping six bases, including multiple steals from Garret Leicht and Derek Luersman.

The Waynesville Grizzlies brought the bats, the speed, and the energy Sunday afternoon, sweeping a dominant doubleheader against the Miami Valley Cardinals at the Athletes in Action Sports Complex by scores of 16-1 and 13-0.

Game one was highlighted by a monster performance from Logan Fisher, who drove in six runs on just two swings of the bat. Fisher crushed a first inning grand slam to left field to immediately put the Grizzlies in control, then added a two-run triple later in the game to cap off an incredible offensive showing.

The Grizzlies exploded for eight runs in the second inning behind contributions up and down the lineup. Dylan Bower ripped a two-run single, Adam Luersman added an RBI knock, and the Grizzlies continued applying pressure with disciplined at-bats and aggressive baserunning. Waynesville swiped an incredible 12 bases in the opener, with Garrett Leicht, Tom Barkevich, Jack McKenzie, and Bryce Heller all causing havoc on the basepaths.

Fisher also dominated on the mound, striking out nine over three innings while allowing no hits and no earned runs.

The momentum carried right into game two.
After an early RBI single from Dylan Bower and another run-scoring hit from Adam Luersman, the Grizzlies offense erupted again in the third and fourth innings. Fisher launched a two-run homer to left, Bryce Heller added an RBI “Glizzy “ double, and Jack McKenzie delivered a two-run triple during a seven-run fourth inning avalanche.

Waynesville pounded out 19 hits in the second game alone, led by Bower’s three-hit performance. Barkevich, Nathan Teller, and Johnny Adkins all added multiple hits as the lineup stayed hot from top to bottom.

On the mound, the Grizzlies were equally dominant. Bryce Heller got things started with a scoreless inning, while Dylan Bower and Chris Mutter combined to finish off the shutout. The defense was flawless all day, not committing a single error.
