In September, the garden isn't uniformly beautiful or uniformly finished. Some flowers are still vibrant, while others have gone to seed. Some vegetables are producing abundantly, while other plants are beginning to wither.
Life is like that, too.
We can be experiencing both fullness and change at the same time. One part of life may be flourishing while another is coming to an end. We don't have to be in one season entirely.
The garden teaches us to let go.
Eventually, we stop deadheading. We pull plants that have finished producing. We clear away what has served its purpose.
There can be a temptation to hold onto what was beautiful simply because it was beautiful.
But letting go isn't always loss. Sometimes it is making room.
Just as the garden releases what it no longer needs, we may be invited to release old expectations, routines, roles, or even dreams that belonged to an earlier season.
I hope you'll join us for Gather, Ground, and Let Go on Sunday, September 20 as we pause between seasons to notice what has grown, give thanks for what we've received, and gently release what we're ready to leave behind.
