💛📣 What an incredible week at UCA Cheer Camp! 🖤
Our Waynesboro Middle School Cheerleaders and coaches traveled to the University of Tennessee at Martin for an unforgettable week at UCA Cheer Camp. We couldn’t be prouder of how hard these girls worked, the confidence they gained, and the tremendous improvement they showed throughout the week.
Day 1 & 2: The girls learned a sideline and a cheer, then performed them on the second night of camp. Their hard work paid off as they earned the highest score in the Middle School Division and received a Golden Ribbon! 🏅
Day 3: The girls learned a band chant, a dance, and a pyramid. That evening they performed the dance and pyramid, earning a Blue Ribbon—the equivalent of a gold ribbon at camp, with gold reserved for routines that advance to be performed on the home field.
After competing, the fun continued with the camp’s “GAME TIME” theme night! Our girls dressed up as Gatorades, and they were a huge hit around camp! 💚💛 They had so much fun taking pictures, making videos, and even got to be featured by the UCA Media Team, making memories they’ll never forget.
Final Day Competitions: Our girls competed in two divisions:
⭐ Spirit Routine (band chant, sideline, and cheer) – 2nd Place in the Small Middle School Division!
⭐ Camp Routine (camp dance and pyramid) – 1st Place in the Small Middle School Division! 🥇
Throughout the week, the team also earned a Spirit Stick every single night, and on the final day they were awarded the Large Spirit Stick—better known as “The Banana!” 🍌 The excitement on their faces when they got to bring the banana home was priceless!
We also want to recognize our four returning cheerleaders. In addition to everything they were learning and performing throughout the week, they stepped out of their comfort zones and tried out in front of the entire camp for the UCA All-American Cheer Team. We are incredibly proud to share that all four girls made the team! Your dedication, confidence, and leadership continue to set an amazing example for our younger cheerleaders.
A special congratulations goes to Lydia Lowe, who received UCA’s Pin It Forward Award. This prestigious peer-recognition award honors athletes who demonstrate outstanding leadership, kindness, encouragement, and spirit. Recipients are entrusted with passing a second pin on to another cheerleader who exemplifies those same qualities. Lydia, we are so proud of the positive example you set both on and off the mat. 💛
This week was about so much more than trophies and ribbons. It was about building confidence, learning teamwork, pushing through challenges, supporting one another, and growing as athletes and as young women. These girls represented Waynesboro Middle School with class, determination, and incredible school spirit.
Thank you to all of our parents, families, and supporters for helping make this experience possible. We also want to thank UCA for providing an amazing camp experience and helping our athletes grow in confidence, leadership, and skill. We can’t wait to bring everything we learned back home and show everyone what this team is capable of.
Go Wildcats! 🖤💛📣
