Jay Buhner is a ‘90s baseball legend! With the Oakleys, the high-top Nikes, and the pine tar, Bone was as badass as you could get!

Baseball nostalgia is more than just remembering the way things used to be. It’s about remembering what’s important in life right now, and living each day while focusing on what really matters, and embracing that.

It’s not work, it’s not trying to look a certain way, and it’s not trying to impress people that don’t give a s**t about you. It’s about loving your family, and enjoying each moment like it’s the last one you’ll ever have. Because as soon as that moment is gone, you’ll never get it back. And then you’ll be old, wishing to get back to this very day. But if you take the time to be fully present, you’ll look back and say, “Look what we did! We lived a helluva life!”

This is the greatest single-game pitching performance in MLB history.

There has never been a game where hitters were more helpless, and a pitcher was more dominant. The 6’5” Texan, at just 20 years old, completely overpowered what would be a 102-win Houston Astros team. He threw a fastball that was likely running upwards of 104 mph, a devastating 12-6 curveball, and a slider/slurve that had more run than Forrest Gump.

Kerry Wood’s 20-strikeout game has a 105 Game Score, which is a Bill James stat that essentially measures how dominant a starting pitcher is in a single start. Kerry’s 105 is the best ever for a 9-inning game.

Max Scherzer’s 17-strikeout no-hitter is second all-time with 104. Clayton Kershaw’s 15-strikeout no-hitter is third all time at 102.

Matt Cain, Sandy Koufax, Nolan Ryan, and Nap Rucker each recorded a 101 Game Score once. Every other great 9-inning pitching performance you’ve ever seen or heard about sits at a 100 Game Score or lower.

Moisés Alou would p*e on his hands to toughen ‘em up. P*e is free and offers outstanding protection. The urine callouses up the hands. Hardens ‘em. Makes ‘em basically like RoboCop’s hands. Steel grip.

It’s hard to understand his impact if you didn’t live in the time, but Bo Jackson had the entire Nation’s attention. If you were a living human during his peak, you knew the Bo Knows campaign and heard about Bo nearly every day, either in the newspaper, on the nightly news, or during any type of sports coverage. As kids, we were all Bo Jackson on the playground, playing two-hand touch in the cold, jamming our fingers and outrunning the defense! Swinging the black and gold Easton Black Magic in the backyard, waiting for mom to yell “supper” while we pretended to hit monster home runs. Being a kid and just being obsessed with athletes, having posters and cards and the sports section in the paper, that was a memorable time. I miss newspapers and box scores.

When me and my dad were playing catch in the backyard, I thought I was learning how to play baseball. But I was really learning how to be a dad.

Greg Maddux throws a baseball at Eddie Murray’s head 😂😂😂

Game 5 of the 1995 World Series. Albert Belle hit a home run off Mad Dog in the first inning, and Eddie was the next guy up.

In these situations, you gotta throw that bowtie to the very next hitter! Can’t let guys get too comfortable in the box.

Every ‘80s and ‘90s kid has a story like this!

Riding bikes across town, no supervision, drinking hose water, and pretty much being locked out of the house all summer long!

Today’s kids wouldn’t last an hour in our world 😂😂😂

We call this the booze & cig era of baseball. It was a special time.

Bo Jackson had a nickname for every way he destroyed you. 🔥

The Master Blaster. The Rifleman. The Bo Breaker.

This man didn’t just play baseball! He dominated every aspect of the game. 💪

And somewhere out there, a 7-year-old version of you crossed 6 lanes of traffic on a Huffy to own these cards while mom was home watching All My Children with no idea you were 10 miles away living your best life. 😂

The 90s were something else, man.

Let me know what cards you rode your bike across town to buy. 👇
